Ugh, it’s only (me or) a few of us at this event. How many times have you said this and left? I used to feel weird about these spaces. Shift: You belong there too. Why not? (If it’s not safe, pivot or don’t go.) Now, I leverage these spaces for deeper impact, influence, inclusion convos and income. Here are 3 don’ts to consider: 1. Don’t only attend events where everyone can relate to your experiences and visa versa. 2. Don’t only attend events within your industry (decision makers and partnerships are wide) 3. Don’t shrink yourself and assume that your thought leadership isn’t needed or welcomed Sure, the event organizers should be unsettled. This is the reality and time to advocate or avoid. P.S. How do you navigate these spaces? --- P.S.S. Valuable? Share with your people. Past content? Click → #doseofdominique Book to speak? bio. dominiquepritchett. com

Hey Hey Hey!!!!! Speaking of the girl who went off here (both hands on my face ^^) I promise you, it's been for a good cause! I bring good news, as I always do :) The Roundtable is back 💥💥 If you don't know about the Roundtable, I'll give a brief summary of what the event is all about. The Roundtable is an annual convening hosted by Kennedy Ekezie to gather young people seeking more. This is a village assembly for young people looking to become torchbearers in society, as they step into the light and proffer solutions to prevalent issues. With rich discussions, a room filled with brilliant young minds, the Roundtable seeks to close the gap of conventionality in the sense of experience gotten by the attendees. I am a product of the Roundtable. I can write a whole epistle and record at least a 20-minute video speaking about how the Roundtable has affected my life, both personally and professionally. And today! I'm inviting you to be a part of the Roundtable 3.0. The third edition of the most inspiring event. The best part of all this is that it's FREE! Now, all you have to do is apply for the event, as selection to attend the event is based on the approval of your application. How cool is that?!! Use the link in the comment section to apply for the Roundtable 3.0! I can't wait to see you there! Wave at me in the comment section, I'd like to catch up! Have a beautiful day! #linkedin #community #events

You see someone influential, but they are a stranger. How do you get a good conversation going?🎤🤔 Notice something about the situation – call it out: "Have you noticed that the bar opened 🕝 15 minutes ago, but hardly any people are there?" Or 👉 "Have you observed the unique mix of industries represented at this networking event? It's quite fascinating how diverse the crowd is, considering we're all here for the same purpose." Or 👉"I couldn't help but notice the intriguing lineup of speakers for this conference. What brought you here, and is there a particular session you're looking forward to the most?" #NetworkingEvent #ConferenceChat #EventObservations #SpeakerLineup #CrowdDiversity #BarConversations #ProfessionalConnections #haredInterests #SmallTalkSkills #BreakingTheIce

🌍✨ At a recent DEI conference, I was reminded of the power of stepping outside our comfort zones. Mingling with a diverse group of attendees not only broadens our perspectives but also fosters meaningful connections. When you choose to engage with people who don’t look like you or share the same background, you open the door to fresh ideas and innovative solutions. It’s in these conversations that we discover new insights and challenge our own thinking. Here are a few tips for maximizing your networking experience: Be Intentional: Set a goal to connect with individuals from different industries or backgrounds. Ask Questions: Show genuine interest in their experiences and perspectives. You might be surprised by what you learn! Listen Actively: Value their stories and insights. This builds rapport and can lead to impactful discussions. Follow Up: After the event, reach out to your new connections. A simple message can pave the way for future collaborations. Let’s make the most of these opportunities to learn from one another and create a more inclusive business community. Who’s ready to mingle? 🤝✨ #Networking #Diversity #Inclusion #BusinessConferences

Kwame Simmons’ session at #BMEC2024 wasn’t just insightful—it was transformative. It reminded me of the power of intentional networking and walking boldly in your value. Our connection began this past July in Accra, Ghana, during a lunch with Dr. Jill Harrison Berg and Laureen Adams, PhD. Over that meal, I watched Simmons retool a workshop for Ghanaian and American educators with incredible clarity and purpose. He created a call to action, challenging them to channel their genius into transformation, regardless of resource or adversity. His ability to inspire and empower left a lasting impression on me. At #BMEC2024, Kwame continued to drop gems. He encouraged us to make meaningful connections with at least three people at every conference and follow up with intention—whether over breakfast, lunch, or coffee. Networking, he emphasized, is about building relationships that inspire dreaming, reflecting, and even course-correcting. He also reminded us to own our value through a sharp 30-second elevator pitch, confidently highlighting how we add value and why we’re the difference maker. As he put it, “shoot your shot,” showing up fully in every space. But it doesn’t end there. Dr. Simmons stressed the importance of consistent follow-ups—intentional touchpoints like messages, resources, or LinkedIn interactions. He challenged us to revamp our LinkedIn profiles with strong headlines and professional headshots that reflect our expertise. He also urged us to seek speed mentoring and connect with people already in the roles we aspire to. And in a powerful moment, he reminded us to praise, invest in, and empower Black women—trailblazers who have long driven transformation. On a personal note, Dr. Simmons didn’t just share these lessons—he saw me. He called me out five times during his session, a profoundly affirming experience that reminded me of the power of being acknowledged in spaces where you’re pushing yourself to grow. What Dr. Simmons doesn’t know is how much I’ve been watching his journey. His boldness and clarity inspire me to lean deeper into my own work and walk into every room knowing my worth. This session wasn’t just about networking—it was about showing up fully, building meaningful connections, and creating spaces for collaboration and transformation. Stay intentional, nurture relationships, and lean into your brilliance. That’s how we change the game—and the world. And, Kwame, I look forward to that follow up 😁😎🙌🏾. #BMEC2024 #BlackEducators #Networking #Impact #Leadership #8FigureDreaming

Yesterday, I had a wonderful time attending a networking event for CPOs/Product leaders. Huge thanks to Vered Wertheim and Omid Vahdaty for organizing this! As someone who usually shies away from these gatherings, being an introvert and navigating male-dominated spaces can feel overwhelming. Talking to strangers? Finding icebreakers? I’d often find myself drained before even walking in. And honestly, I’ve always preferred smaller, 1:1 connections anyway than facing the awkwardness of a room full of people. But yesterday was different. I set a small goal before going: just show up, talk to three people (ideally women, because let’s be real, it’s easier), and then I could leave. But oh man, what an evening! Walking in late, I was hit by a sea of mostly men in the field of B2B, and I thought, “How am I going to do this? Who should I talk to?" But the organizers did something brilliant—they had everyone introduce themselves. It took time, for sure, but it made finding common ground so much easier later. Then we broke into small groups, and suddenly, I wasn’t just talking—I was connecting. We dove deep into personal experiences and big ideas around Gen AI, and I found myself staying longer than I ever expected and enjoying it so much. They had to close the venue to let us go. At Soli, we’re on a mission to help young women find their tribe and combat loneliness. We know that Gen Z has it much harder when it comes to putting themselves out there, especially when many lack the social skills and confidence needed. Last night’s event showed me firsthand that a bit of guidance and structure can change the game. Can’t wait for the next event!

"You don’t build a community—you facilitate it." When I heard Dr. Marcus Collins say this, my perspective shifted. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻: 1️⃣ Find people who already share your vision. 2️⃣ Give them the tools (megaphones) to amplify it. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: Beyoncé didn’t create the "BeyHive." Marc's team found superfans calling themselves that and embraced it. 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: If the foundation is solid, build on it. Don’t start from scratch. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼: At the tail end of the pandemic, I consulted for a large event company. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲: 🅰️ Boost event attendance, when people still had lingering pandemic fear 🅱️ Expand the venue partnership portfolio These objectives go hand-in-hand. Using Marc's model, leadership found fans who loved the organization's style and music then centered them at the events. The community grew naturally. From there, partnership agreements came. I implemented systems for data analysis, budget management, and operational improvements. The organization thrived during the pandemic because leadership was able to focus on their strengths, throwing fantastic events.
