This week we’ve had the opportunity to listen to stories of refugees and displaced individuals as they shared their journey. But the conversation shouldn’t stop here. On the final day of Refugee Week 2024, I find myself looking toward the future. 1 in every 230 people around the world have been displaced from their homes due to ongoing conflicts, persecution, and climate change. It’s vital that the business community recognizes this as an opportunity to come together to support those impacted. We have the power to create change together. Employment opportunities or training and mentorship programs can help welcome refugees back into the workforce in their new homes. Scholarships and workshops can form a meaningful bridge that helps to reskill displaced individuals. By implementing these initiatives, businesses can not only be a force for good but can also benefit from the skills, talents, and diverse perspectives that refugees bring to the table. Every child, regardless of where they come from, deserves safety, care, and the chance to build a better future. Refugee children, who have endured unimaginable hardships , remind us of our shared humanity and the need for compassion no matter what our believes are, religions and backgrounds. These children are not just statistics that been used in the academic papers they are individuals as well with dreams, talents, and potential. They are the future scientists, artists, leaders, and innovators of our world. Refugee children have faced loss, fear, and uncertainty future that no child should ever experience. They are innocent lives caught in crises beyond their control, and they need our compassion and support. We cannot forget that these children are just like ours with dreams, hopes, and the potential to change the world. It’s our duty as humans to care, protect, and give them the chance to heal and grow.
