ER Closures are Putting Lives at Risk Another long weekend has passed with no Emergency Room coverage in many Interior Health communities. This is not acceptable. The NDP government has allowed our healthcare system to reach crisis levels over their 7 years in office, and the problem worsens yearly. As winter approaches, we all know the roads will be dangerous. Having to travel long distances for emergency care is not okay. Our families deserve better. Under our Patients First policy, the Conservative Party of BC will focus on keeping ERs open, ensuring that healthcare is accessible for all, and putting patients—not bureaucrats—at the system's centre. It’s time for a government that delivers on healthcare. Let’s bring common sense back to BC. #VoteDonegalWilson #PatientsFirst #ERClosures #HealthcareCrisis #CommonSenseBC

Working in health care during COVID-19 pandemic truly the heartbreaking experience I have witnessed so far in my life. Working in care, so many people sadly died with the virus. Every time I hear or watch programs about COVID-19, brings back very high emotions that healthcare workers, hospitals, care homes got laughed at by our government in charge. No one will understand the emotion, the anger. The devastation healthcare workers went through during the pandemic. The new program breathtaking on ITV outlines the emotion and rapidly the virus had spread it. Such a great drama to show people how COVID-19 spreading in hospitals. #healthcare #covid19 #covid19pandemic #itv #nhs #care

🚨 Did you know nearly 130 rural hospitals have closed since 2010? 🚨 This is not just a statistic — it’s a growing crisis that’s leaving rural communities without vital healthcare services. From emergency care to specialized treatments, many people are now forced to travel hours for basic medical needs. As rural hospitals continue to close at alarming rates, we risk deepening health disparities and leaving entire populations vulnerable. The time to act is now. Rural healthcare is in jeopardy, and the consequences are far-reaching. Reference: American Hospital Association. (2022, September 7). Rural hospital closures threaten access to care. Have your say on urgent care services across Lancashire and South Cumbria. Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) wants to hear your views about urgent care. Please take part in a short survey to help make sure those services are fit for the future. *Urgent care* involves any non-life-threatening illness or injury needing urgent attention, whether that's in hospital or outside. It is different to *emergency care*, which involves life-threatening illnesses or accidents which require immediate treatment from the ambulance service (via 999) and a hospital emergency department (often referred to as A&E). For this survey, the ICB would like to know your opinions about urgent care only. You can take part in the survey at https://lnkd.in/eZqx_x2b It runs until Sunday, November 10th. #UrgentCare #EmergencyCare

"A second public health emergency of this decade is beginning to take shape in New Hampshire," says Tess Stack Kuenning of the Bi-State Primary Care Association. "Health-care organizations across the state are incurring unsustainable losses. Community Health Centers, among others, are being challenged like never before as they recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic." This is one more example that further demonstrates the need for sustained, increased funding for CHCs. ACH is calling on Congress to act now and make historic investments in health centers. #CHCInvest https://hubs.li/Q02xtgQ90 #NewHampshireHealthcare #CommunityHealth #CHC #PrimaryCare #PublicHealth #HealthEquity #Medicaid #Medicare #Congress #Healthcare

The Crisis in WA’s Healthcare System has hit a breaking point. Recent incidents showcase the severe repercussions of mismanagement and under funding, leaving patients to bear the brunt. The Labor government is facing scrutiny for its handling of WA hospitals, rightfully so. Picture the anguish of a cancer patient, left unattended on a hospital trolley outside of a toilet for hours - not once, but twice. This neglect is unforgivable, demonstrating a system in disarray. The tragic loss of a 21-month-old child due to ignored pleas for a simple blood test is a stark reminder of the dire need for change. Blaming delays on external factors like holidays or even better, the weather is not the answer; we must confront issues of overcrowding and lack of resources. Transparency, accountability, and immediate action are essential to prevent further suffering. Let's demand reforms to ensure that every patient in Western Australia receives dignified and timely healthcare. #health #wahealthcare #wahospitals

The rise of the administrative and anti-competitive third party adjacent business state has seen non-caregivers wielding power in the healthcare industry, overshadowing those whose primary focus is on providing care. Political operatives turn a blind eye as lobbyists representing large consolidated industry players dismantle the free market necessary for advancing care, embracing innovation, and ensuring affordable access. All this while billions in PAC dollars fund caregiver civil wars against eachother, as they fight for the crumbs that fall off the table, undermining access and stable working relationships required for patients in need of care. With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), millions of healthcare providers were compelled to transition from being part of small independent groups to becoming employees under these conditions. This shift resulted in a loss of autonomy and influence, while adding significant overhead costs to sustain this employed model. Furthermore, when considering the government's consistent reduction of reimbursements from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in a nation where this payer mix plays an ever expanding and pivotal role, the situation becomes even more dire. The sudden market correction in salaries following the COVID-19 pandemic, with caregivers now demanding higher wages, is akin to pouring kerosene on an already smoldering fire. It’s as unsustainable as our federal debt. In the United States, there is a lack of emphasis on preventative care and the availability of healthy, affordable food for the majority of Americans. It is disheartening to compare the cost and accessibility of nutritious food in other countries to the situation in the US, where unhealthy processed foods dominate the market. Subsidies for large-scale monoculture farming have led to the decline of small farmers, while promoting the consumption of over-processed foods that contribute to public health issues. As a society, we are increasingly promoting meatless agendas without addressing the root causes of unhealthy food production and consumption. It is crucial to reevaluate our priorities and policies to ensure a sustainable and health-focused approach to food production and distribution. Afterall, this industry is built on tertiary care, not preventative care. Ultimately, this fragile system is akin to a house of cards that is bound to collapse, affecting millions of individuals, yet sadly without any accountability. This is a stark reality of the political and administrative state - they often evade responsibility and consequences for the repercussions of their actions. For those who passively stand by and permit these injustices to unfold, they must understand that complicity through inaction is a form of consent. Silence can be interpreted as acceptance of the status quo.

We’re kicking off #RuralHospitalWeek by highlighting the invaluable role hospitals play in providing critical health care services in rural communities. Did you know: One in three adults in rural communities is enrolled in Medicare, and the rural hospitals that care for them often operate on slim financial margins. To keep rural hospitals’ doors open and protect the rural safety net in these areas, we need to permanently extend the Low-Volume Hospital and Medicare-Dependent Hospital programs that support rural communities.
