in addition to the benefits of these mangroves they play a great role in carbon sequestration and through photosynthesis they absorb the excess carbondioxide in the atmosphere and hence ensuring that the atmosphere is clean and overcome the effects of climate change.

🌍✨ Understanding Controlled Burnings ✨🌍 Did you know that controlled burnings are a vital tool for maintaining healthy forests? Not only do these prescribed burns remove excess vegetation, they also lower the chances of uncontrolled wildfires! In addition, the fire encourages the growth of native plants, improving habitats for local wildlife. Learn more about the U.S. Forest Service's prescribed fires: slco.to/USFS-Mitigation #EcologicalHealth #FireSafety City of Millcreek

Elephants are crucial to the survival of forests and other animals. They help disperse seeds that will later on become rich vegetation for other animals. Also, the holes their heavy feet create on the ground they pass on collect water for other creatures to drink from and as micro-habitats for even smaller animals. Unfortunately, these gentle giants are continuously in danger due to human activities such as poaching, mistreatment, and other unsustainable actions that cause habitat loss. This #WorldElephantDay, let us share the importance of elephants to our ecosystem and continue supporting movements worldwide that help prevent different threats to their survival. Always remember that even the strong and enormous elephant needs our help too! #WeAreASEANBiodiversity #ASEANBiodiversity #aseancentreforbiodiversity

How do we #protect the #land? It's a question we hear a lot, so we added the answer to our FAQ page. We protect wildlife habitats by: ⛔ Preserving critical areas like watersheds; 🌲 Implementing buffer zones that won't be developed or disturbed; and, ✅ Following Idaho Fish and Game guidelines for land #stewardship. Our approach includes habitat restoration and creating wildlife corridors 🦨 to ensure connectivity, working closely with local biologists to adapt plans as needed to safeguard native species. Here's a link to our FAQ page if you'd like to learn more: https://lnkd.in/g_ndhHBq

🌱 Spotlight on the Western Spadefoot: A Tiny Amphibian with Big Adaptations! 🐸 The Western Spadefoot (Spea hammondii) is a fascinating amphibian found in arid regions of California and the western U.S. Its name comes from the spade-like structures on its hind feet, which allow it to dig burrows in sandy soils to escape the harsh desert heat. These burrowing masters spend much of their lives underground, emerging primarily during rainy nights to breed in temporary pools created by seasonal rains. Unfortunately, wildfires pose significant threats to this unique species. Intense fires destroy critical vegetation, altering soil structure and reducing the spadefoot’s ability to burrow effectively. Post-fire conditions often lead to soil erosion and sediment runoff, which can degrade the ephemeral ponds they rely on for breeding. Furthermore, the loss of vegetation impacts the invertebrates that make up their diet, creating additional challenges for survival. Conserving Western Spadefoot populations requires a combination of wildfire prevention, habitat restoration, and sustainable land management practices to maintain the delicate balance of their fragile ecosystems. These small but resilient creatures remind us of the intricate ways fire impacts biodiversity—and the importance of preserving all life forms, big and small. 🌧️✨ Learn more about these amphibians: https://lnkd.in/e442J6H4 #WildlifeConservation #WesternSpadefoot #WildfireImpact #HabitatRestoration

"Protect Insects, Protect Birds" is this year's World Migratory Bird Day theme! Insects are not just buzzing, crawling, or fluttering creatures; they are vital to ecosystems and play a pivotal role in the survival and health of migratory birds. This year's theme allows us to understand and acknowledge the importance of insects and take action to protect their habitats. By doing so, we are also preserving our forests and other wildlife on our planet! Can you guess the name of the bird pictured?
