ANT’S MIDWEEK PONDER….. A few weeks ago news broke that QSC was to be acquired by Acuity, a Leading Industrial-Technology Company.  In a conversation the other day I was discussing with a colleague about brands that have slipped away into history maybe through acquisitions or through changes in technology. There are also brands that are trying to make a come back with refreshed ranges. When starting out in the industry major brands like Midas, Klark Teknik, BSS, XTA were leading the way in pro audio and the products they developed were in high demand. Some AV brands will be around for generations and have products that will shape the industry and they will keep adjusting their products.  Other brands will have their time, make an impact and then fade away quietly. For some of the audio brands I started using the transition from analogue to digital audio has seen their demise, for others though, the brand acquisitions has maybe not helped. What brands that no longer exist would you love to see be brought back into existence? What brands have impacted your journey? How can the AV industry encourage new brands and smaller brands to develop? What makes a company innovative? The easy answer to this would be “developing cutting edge products”. But to be able to do so a company has to create the right conditions: innovative thinking, taking bold steps and above all, awareness within the company. Our goal at Schenck is to always walk in the front row of technological advancements. And we are proud to have a strong commitment to keep it that way – thus we dedicate an event to our own innovations: Yesterday we organized the Schenck Innovation Day, an internal exhibition, where our teams presented their latest Innovations to their colleagues. This was done in person and interactively, so that all Schenck employees could get the chance to get a live demonstration of our various new products.
