Usually at the end of the year, I jump into the next full of plans for what's ahead. Seldom reflecting on what's been achieved, what lessons I've learned, and what's simply brought me joy. Often worried that I might feel disappointed by what I didn't achieve, or what didn't happen. But! I decided not do that this year; and in January focussed my mind on two words, and planned to review myself as 2024 closed. My words were - Growth, and - Inclusion Here's a (very abridged) version of how the 12 months panned out... Kicking off in January. My family and I had the privilege of meeting Dame Stephanie Shirley. The photo of her and Chloe together fills me with joy. Something I never imagined could happen - my two inspirations together. Thanks to Lynn Hart for making this happen. February I took myself out my comfort zone and did a one minute open mic in front of around 120 people with The StartUp Events at Somerset House, 99% of whom I'd never met. March celebrating International Women’s Day. Thank you Helena Wardle, Women in Platforms, for inviting me to speak about this year's theme 'Inspire Inclusion'. It was an honour to share first hand why true inclusion matters in all aspects of our lives. After a period of feeling 'stuck', April saw me investing in myself and committing to work with growth specialist Thea Brook, CMA Brook. A game changing decision that helped me regain focus and confidence. May my birthday month saw four weeks of solid research - and three podcast recordings! In June, I was delighted to share a double page spread of life admin tips in Closer Magazine. The juggle of Summer break in July was made a pleasure when doqit was awarded a Smart Data Foundry & FinTech Scotland Innovation award of £50,000. August started the transformation of taking doqit to the App Stores. And an opportunity for me to meet another of my heros, Kris Foster, as he was heading off to Paris to cheer Team GB Paralympians. In September we launched our new doqit branding. An updated look to align with our goals and aspirations. Thank you Freddie. Being featured as part of the #YouveGotWhatItTakes Female Founders Rise campaign in October felt super special and important. Collectively we WILL move the needle on female founded and led businesses. And watch out for this campaign going nationwide in 2025 .... I've a feeling. Then, with more than a little trepidation we did a soft launch in November to our existing users. Seeing doqit live on the App Store (naturally Chloe pushed the go live button) was a moment where I nearly burst with pride. Finally, finishing off the year working with my incredible daughter Chloe and Project Nemo. It was a privilege to work with the team to make 'Chloe's Story - Topping Up Independence', supporting the drive for greater inclusion across financial services, banking, and payments. 2024's been a great year, and what have I learned? This is just the beginning! Here's to A Happy, Healthy, 2025 xx
