The conflict in Yemen has continued for over 9 years so far, destroying every aspect in Yemeny's lifes. Education sector was not an excepion, in addition to the negative effects of the conflict on education, high temperatures and lack of electricity significantly reduceed attendance rates and educational attainment, which is a huge burden on the local authorities. In this project 8 schools were supported with full solar energy systems to keep the schools running with lighting and fans everyday, a perfict solution that uses clean sustainable and almost free energy, supporting students and teachers in having cooler environment in classes, which in return will increase the attendance rates and educational attainment. This type of sustainable and development interventions are what needed for the upcoming period. Proud to be a project manager for such beautiful intervention that helps addressing part of education challenges in Yemen, in a project implemented by UNDP Yemen through Yemen Aid and funded by European Union. #projectmanagement,#education,#yemen,#humanitarian,#sustainable,#solarenergy https://lnkd.in/d5GZcZds

🛑 Israel Order Palestinians Under Violent Attack: Leave Gaza. 🛑 UN-SDGs Call to Build Sustainable Resilient Societies. IOF forces innocent Palestinians to evacuate Gaza City while attacking and killing them one by one at the same time. This is though no safe places for the Palestinians to go and flee from the continuous indiscriminate bombing of the IOF 24/7. In the despair of taking over more Palestinian territories and build new Israeli settlements, a war of genocide and ethnic cleansing is taking place. The law of jungle is still ruling in the 21st century. The hunger of power has no limits. Even in the jungle we started to have respect according to the UN-SDGs, for protecting the biodiversity against the abuse and aggresion of humans. Where to evacuate the civilians to? In Gaza there is no place left but Israel could "easily" follow the gist of the UNSC and the ICJ decisions by creating a humanitarian solution which nevertheless includes achieving its goal of military fully dismantling Hamas. If Israel would open its borders and create Blue Helmets/UN peace force controlled, UNHCR managed, refugee facilities in Israel, it could upon doing so dismantle all military infrastructure in Gaza without causing any further civilian collateral damage. At the same time would the (disarmed) Gazans have a stable very safe zone to go to with a high likelihood to be able to return home if Gaza becomes inhabitable again (currently it is no longer). Finally, by involving the international community, a starting point for co-existence as equals could be created. www.canaan.community & www.pax.ngo & www.convergence.ngo

Video Brief (1): Humanitarian Aid Versus Developmental Program in Charitable Organizations This video is about the difference between humanitarian aid and development, and how to transition from a focus on aid to a focus on development. The speaker, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Ariani, explains that humanitarian aid is a temporary solution to a problem, while development is a sustainable solution. He gives the example of providing electricity to a needy family. A humanitarian aid approach would be to pay their electricity bill for them, while a development approach would be to install solar panels on their house so they can generate their own electricity. Dr. Al-Ariani also discusses the challenges of transitioning to a development focus. One challenge is that development programs are more complex and require more flexibility than humanitarian aid programs. Another challenge is that donors often prefer to fund humanitarian aid projects because they are more visible and have a more immediate impact. Despite the challenges, Dr. Al-Ariani believes that it is important for organizations to focus on development because it is the only way to create lasting change. He encourages organizations to start by gradually incorporating development programs into their work, and to partner with other organizations to provide comprehensive solutions to the needs of beneficiaries. In the concluding remarks, the host thanks Dr. Al-Ariani for his insightful discussion and praises the work of the Makarim Al-Akhlaq Society in providing outstanding programs and services. https://lnkd.in/d4QBtNnN

A full year has passed since the devastating war in Sudan, and we are still suffering in a cycle of ongoing tragedy. we lose precious lives and pay a heavy price for an armed conflict that is tearing our country apart. This year, we have witnessed the loss of thousands of innocent people, the forced disappearance of many, and the looting of the people's wealth and possessions. However, amidst this darkness, an inspiring picture emerges, driven by a deep belief that community organizing during this period of Sudan's history is the hope for confronting the power of reality, and the seed that will inevitably sprout into effective democratic community organizations capable of achieving and sustaining peace and development in the future. Here, we review a glimpse of the immense efforts and solidarity of the Sudanese people to confront the repercussions of the war. They organize emergency rooms and shelters, food kitchens, reopen damaged hospitals, and activate cultural life to ease the burden on the shoulders of the people. https://lnkd.in/d_sdQp4Z

From my perspective, it is imperative for civil society organizations to actively seek new ideas and strategies to attract donor funding. The reality is that many gaps remain, particularly in areas severely impacted by conflict and in the southern regions suffering from the effects of climate change. These communities still struggle to achieve sustainability, and it would be unrealistic to rely solely on the government to bridge these gaps in the near term and some potential strategies for civil society organizations to attract funding and ensure sustainable development: 1. Diversifying Funding Sources:Organizations should explore various funding avenues, including private sector partnerships, crowdfunding, and tapping into the diaspora community for support. Diversifying funding sources can reduce dependency on a single donor and enhance financial stability. 2. Innovative Projects:Developing innovative and impactful projects that align with global priorities, such as climate change mitigation, women's empowerment, and youth employment, can attract international donors. Highlighting successful pilot projects can also demonstrate the potential for scalability and sustainability. 3. Strengthening Local Partnerships:Building strong partnerships with local businesses, academic institutions, and other NGOs can enhance credibility and create a collaborative environment for shared resources and expertise. These partnerships can also help in leveraging local knowledge and networks. 4. Capacity Building:Investing in capacity-building initiatives for staff and local communities can improve project implementation and sustainability. Training in areas such as project management, proposal writing, and monitoring and evaluation can increase the chances of securing and efficiently utilizing funds. 5. Advocacy and Awareness:Raising awareness about the ongoing needs and challenges in Iraq through targeted advocacy campaigns can draw the attention of potential donors. Using data-driven stories and impactful visuals can effectively communicate the urgency and scale of the issues. 6. Transparency and Accountability:Demonstrating a commitment to transparency and accountability in all operations can build donor trust. Regular reporting, independent audits, and clear communication of outcomes and impacts can reassure donors that their contributions are making a tangible difference. #SustainableDevelopment #CivilSociety #Iraq #FundingStrategies #CommunityEmpowerment
Iraq is experiencing a decrease in international funding amid an increase in government projects. Does this prompt civil society organizations to devise new ideas to attract funding, or is it just a matter of time before the government covers all developmental gaps? Let's discuss these important questions together and explore possible solutions to ensure sustainable development in Iraq. #Development #InternationalFunding #CivilSocietyOrganizations #Iraq

In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, where consumers and stakeholders increasingly prioritize values and ethics, the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has never been more pronounced. CSR, once considered a voluntary commitment, has transformed into a strategic necessity, essential for sustainable growth and long-term success. Here are compelling reasons why integrating CSR into your business strategy is not just good practice but imperative: 1. Brand Differentiation: In a market crowded with competitors, CSR initiatives offer a powerful way to stand out. Ethical practices, environmental stewardship, and social contributions enhance brand reputation, fostering trust and loyalty among consumers. 2. Talent Attraction and Retention: A commitment to CSR is a magnet for talent. Today's workforce, especially millennials and Gen Z, seeks employment with companies that reflect their values. A strong CSR program not only attracts talent but also inspires and retains it by instilling a sense of purpose and fulfillment. 3. Innovation and Competitiveness: CSR challenges organizations to rethink their operations and products, driving innovation that not only meets the bottom line but also addresses societal and environmental issues. This approach can open up new markets and opportunities, keeping companies competitive and relevant. 4. Risk Management: Proactively engaging in CSR activities helps companies anticipate and mitigate environmental, social, and governance risks. It serves as a shield against potential crises, protecting the company's reputation and ensuring its sustainability. 5. Financial Performance: Evidence increasingly shows that companies committed to CSR outperform their counterparts in the long run. Ethical business practices lead to better risk management, customer loyalty, and operational efficiencies, contributing to superior financial results. 6. Building Stronger Communities: Beyond business benefits, CSR has a profound impact on the communities and environments in which companies operate. From improving living standards to protecting the planet for future generations, CSR practices demonstrate that businesses can be a force for good. As leaders, professionals, and individuals, the commitment to CSR is not just about doing good; it's about doing well by our stakeholders, society, and the planet. It's about ensuring that our success today does not come at the expense of tomorrow's generations. Let's embrace CSR, not as an option, but as a fundamental part of doing business in the 21st century. The future of business is sustainable, inclusive, and socially responsible. #CSR #Sustainability #CorporateSocialResponsibility #BusinessEthics #Innovation #BrandReputation #TalentRetention #AlDawaa

In my interview with Alhurra TV in Arabic , I discussed the severe threats to cultural heritage in Lebanon, specifically in Baalbek and Tyre. I explained that while airstrikes did not directly hit these historical sites, vibrations, smoke, and chemicals from the attacks have compromised the structural integrity of the archaeological areas, and displacement has disrupted the social fabric of these regions. Key points raised in this interview : 1-Critical Protection Needs: Baalbek and Tyre, both UNESCO World Heritage sites, are at high risk and require immediate safeguarding. 2-Legal Violations: Damage to these sites breaches the 1954 Hague Convention, calling for international accountability. 3-International Community’s Role: Efforts by global organizations to protect these sites have fallen short; stronger measures are needed. 4-Impact of Airstrikes: Israeli airstrikes are endangering historical sites across Lebanon and Gaza.
Alhurra channel interviewed Dr. Isber Sabrine, director of the Heritage for Peace organization, about the threats facing cultural heritage in Lebanon, highlighting the cities of Baalbek and Tyre. Dr. Isber Sabrine: "The airstrikes did not directly target the historical sites, but they caused tremors that significantly affected the sites, along with smoke and chemical materials from the weapons that impact the archaeological structure, in addition to the displacement cases that have affected the social fabric of the city." Highlights by Dr. Isber: - Real Risks: Baalbek and Tyre, listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites, urgently need protection. - Violations of International Law: The destruction these sites face constitutes a violation of the 1954 Hague Convention, warranting accountability. - Role of the International Community: Despite efforts from international organizations, they remain unable to protect these landmarks. Action must be taken to safeguard cultural heritage. - Impact of Airstrikes: Israeli airstrikes negatively affect historical sites in Lebanon and Gaza. Archaeological sites are facing serious violations that threaten cultural heritage, and we call on all stakeholders to respond to protect our precious heritage. #baalbek #HeritageForPeace #lebanon #conflict #world_heritage_site
