Becoming a grandparent is a joyous occasion, filled with anticipation and dreams of the future. When your grandchild has special needs, it can also bring a host of unexpected emotions and challenges. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, but remember, you’re not alone. Here are some tips to help you navigate this journey: -Have patience as you adjust to this latest information and give yourself space to process it.  -Love your grandchild’s parents in practical and helpful ways.  -Accept your grandchild’s disability so you can be genuinely supportive parents to your children when they need you.  -Move past your fears for the sake of those you love.  -Assure the grandchild that you love them just as much as those who preceded them or those who will follow.  -As grandparents, take the time to get the basic facts about your grandchild’s disability and its accompanying struggles or challenges. Remember, every child is unique and brings their own special light into the world. Nurture with Love; Care with Dignity.... Mothers, as guardians of the home, have a profound responsibility to redefine the dynamics with their domestic helpers. These vulnerable individuals, often young girls and women, entrust their well-being to your care. Treat them with the same love, kindness, and dignity you afford your own children. Provide nutritious food, comfortable living conditions, and fair compensation. Recognize their humanity and acknowledge their struggles. A well-cared-for helper is more likely to invest their heart and soul in serving your family. Conversely, neglect and mistreatment breed resentment, harmful intentions, and a toxic environment. By embracing empathy and compassion, you create a harmonious household where mutual respect flourishes. Remember, domestic helpers are not servants, but essential members of your household, deserving of kindness, understanding, and support.

As it nears the end of June, Children’s Awareness Month is also coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean the work ends as well. It’s a reminder that the commitment to nurturing and protecting the well-being of children should be a year-round effort. Communities, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to continue advocating for children’s rights, providing support, and fostering environments where every child can thrive. Additionally, raising awareness about critical issues such as child abuse, neglect, and mental health is essential. By staying informed and advocating for policies that protect children, we can contribute to creating a safer and more supportive society. Remember, every action, no matter how small, can have a significant impact. Whether it’s through a kind word, a supportive gesture, or active participation in community efforts, we all have a role to play in ensuring that children grow up in a world where they feel valued, protected, and empowered. Children’s Day: A Call to Protect, Not Just Celebrate Today, as we celebrate Children’s Day, let’s think about the children who need us more than anything material. It deeply pains me to see yet another story of child neglect and abuse. Recent data from the NSPCC shows a heartbreaking 106% rise in reported child cruelty and neglect over the last five years in the UK and it's the similar situation around the world, in some parts of the world even worse. The stories of silent pain, of children who were never given the chance to be children, often go unnoticed, ignored, forgotten. Yes, life happens—stress, frustration, financial struggles. We all carry these burdens, but we can’t unload them onto children who are too young, too vulnerable. They need love, care, and stability to grow into their best selves. And if we’re too overwhelmed to give them that, we have to ask ourselves some hard questions: Are we failing them? Wouldn’t it be kinder to place them with families who are ready and desperate to provide that love? This Children’s Day, let’s not just celebrate. Let’s choose to make a real difference.
