Today our team was blessed to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony of Hope Ministries new Women’s and Children's Center! We are grateful to come alongside them and partner in loving and serving those in Central Iowa. It is a blessing to join in being a part of what is right with the world!
My personal philanthropy has a primary focus on the human rights of children and young people. Which is understandable when you hear my own story of childhood abuse and neglect.
I strongly believe that every child deserves to be loved, safe and able to thrive, no matter where they were born. I also believe that this is the responsibility of the whole community - not just the biological parents.
That is why I chose to apply to be a Trustee for Hope and Homes for Children and it was an absolute honour to be selected for this huge responsibility. As such, I have had the privilege to see the positive results of their incredible work, but there is so much more to be done.
Sadly, at least 5.4million children are currently separated from their families, shut away inside orphanages, and staggeringly 80% are not even orphans.
Orphanages are not the safe place we have been led to believe by decades of well meaning charity work and philanthropy. It is well researched and demonstrated that orphanages expose children to abuse, trafficking, and physical and psychological trauma that can last a lifetime.
📖🔬here is just one study https://lnkd.in/ejxvhEk7
No child should end up in an orphanage. There is ALWAYS a better solution.
Today is the UN #InternationalDayofFamilies and this marks the launch of HHC’s campaign #BacktoFamily. It’s an incredible and well thought out campaign, using #AI to protect the rights of children.

At the very least I encourage you to take a look at their website and learn more about the harmful effects of orphanages, what the alternative is and how #philanthropy has a catalytic role to play in this social movement https://lnkd.in/egzS5ua5
‼️Philanthropy should be about learning, so if you have been funding an orphanage and want to learn what you can do to help those children please get in touch with me today xx ‼️

Did you know that approximately 55% of the state’s population lives in a defined child care desert? And, that number expands to 68% in rural Oklahoma?
At OPSR, we remain committed to finding sustainable solutions to these challenges by advocating for:
- Increased public investment in early childhood education and care
- Exploration of new public-private partnerships to support providers
Together, we can build a brighter future for Oklahoma’s children.
Wespath is proud to highlight the impact that The National Association of United Methodist Foundations is generating for neurodivergent individuals and their families. At Pratigya, our mission extends beyond education; it's a holistic journey empowering children and families. For donors supporting us from afar, it's about grasping the profound impact of their contribution. We start by backing a child's educational voyage, but our commitment reaches beyond classrooms. Interventions engage families, educate parents, and nurture a home environment. It's a journey of reflection and action, focusing on each child's needs, especially their socio-emotional well-being.
In the inspiring story of Sangeeta Devi, a true community champion, Pratigya's interventions have fueled not only confidence but also problem-solving skills. Resilience shines as a beacon, illuminating the transformative power of holistic child development. Your support transcends distances, weaving a tapestry of change. With Pratigya, it's about fostering confidence, resilience, and a brighter future for every child. Join us in this transformative journey, where each contribution resonates in the triumphant stories of children like Sangeeta.

For my Friends in the DC Metro area:
Imagine the anguish of a parent who wants nothing more than for their child to be understood, accepted, and given the same opportunities as others. For so many families, finding a place where their child’s unique needs are not just met, but embraced, feels impossible. The National Children's Center (NCC) has been a beacon of hope for these families for 65 years. It’s where children who were once isolated and misunderstood found a community that saw their potential and celebrated their progress.
Yet, the journey to this place of acceptance is often filled with pain. The pain of watching a child struggle in environments not built for them. The pain of feeling like you’re always fighting an uphill battle to ensure they receive the support they need. And for some, the heartbreaking realization that their child may never have the opportunities that others take for granted.
But NCC offers something rare: a place where these battles don’t have to be fought alone. It’s a sanctuary where families find the support, understanding, and resources they need to help their children flourish. This gala is more than just a celebration of 65 years; it’s a reminder of all the work that still needs to be done, of the countless children who still need that sanctuary.
By supporting NCC, you’re not just attending an event—you’re giving hope to families who need it the most. You’re helping to build a future where every child, no matter their abilities, can thrive. Join us in making that future a reality.

What if every school made service to others a core part of education?
Imagine the profound impact it would have on the next generation.
→ Teaching kids empathy,
→ Compassion, and
→ The true meaning of community.
One of my favourite things in this world is spending time with the kids from our Give Back School and
Serving alongside them to help feed the homeless in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
The joy and love I see in their eyes during these moments fills my heart in ways words cannot describe.
I believe that,
Introducing service to others as a regular practice in every school would have a profound,
Long-lasting impact on children’s lives.
→ It teaches empathy,
→ Community, and
→ The joy that comes from giving back.
Serving others is more than an act of kindness and it’s a lesson in humanity that every child should experience.
Live Generously

A simple and beautiful example as to why communities are important 👇🏻
A new parent in our Sirat - The Cleft Warriors Ensemble community recently shared that their unborn baby will have a cleft lip and palate. With support and determination, they’ve chosen to embrace the journey ahead.
I was glad to see this message in the morning, it's an affirmation of the message we're trying to convey about Sirat and what people can expect.
Sirat exists to ensure that families facing cleft know they're not alone. We connect parents with a supportive network, expert advice, and resources to navigate this path together.
Help us reach more families—contribute here or share this post to spread the word.
