With all the public events hosted in KL over the weekend, the whole city was literally a standstill due to the traffic it pooled. The irony was that the venues were adjacent or pleasantly walkable from rapid transit stations. Undeniable that the common goto would be private commutes over public, but if you're stuck in an eventual dead-lock bumper to bumper (there's only so many parkings before you have to pay more for one or illegally park, and often the latter), why cant organizers of these events extend rewards to promote the use of public transits? Eg, a QR before the fare gate at the nearest stations to the event that says "Career fare at KLCC? QR now for a free KaoKao below RM20". Of course the QR back-end services would cross-check with your registration or purchase of tickets prior to the event so it wont be abused. Having done work with the Government, theres a saying "ada fulus semua lulus"... The same goes with the common folk, give them $omething and they'll flock to it like an announcement of petrol price hikes and the fuel stations are jam packed before midnight. Incentivise these public transport initiatives with related councils or #MoT and its subsidiaries. You're bringing in scale, cash-in or ride on their platforms for optics. MoTs new app could also offer these services to event organizers instead with some profit-sharing. I was always taught never to market a conference based solely on its location. And it's a good rule. Most people need to make a business case to attend an event. And when you do, it's probably wise not to lead with "I've always wanted to go to Bali." Yet I have always found that no matter where an event is, people show up ready to do business. That's how I approach it. No matter where it is, I am there to work. Still, if the event is in a great location, I will try to stay on for a couple extra days to have a look around. It's been a great way to see the world. #craftofconferencing #events #conferences

There’s a lot of Internet chatter these days about up and leaving the US. But what I see less of is discussion around how to actually choose a place to move. Is it enough to say you “just want to leave the US”? Personally, I don’t think it is. A lot of people are surprised when I talk about the amount of soul-searching involved in moving abroad, but it’s true. When my wife and I were planning to move away from Miami, we had our reasons for leaving. But we also had specific reasons for moving to Madrid, as opposed to, say, Barcelona, or Paris. Personally, we chose Madrid because of network of travel options to the rest of Spain and Europe, the Latino influence, and the endless cultural opportunities. And we didn’t plan to stay as long as we have; taking the time to choose thoughtfully resulted in us truly falling in love with Madrid. Part of the reason we love it is because of our great apartment. This well-located home base allows us to indulge in the digital nomad lifestyle while remaining something to come home to. If you’re considering a move abroad, one of the most important (and fun!) planning elements is deciding where exactly you’re going to live. If you have your sights set on Spain but maybe haven’t settled on a region, then I encourage you to attend an online event organized by Tanne Crosby, FSA, MAAA at Crosby&Millan about the basics of purchasing a property in Spain, specifically, the Spanish Costa del Sol.
