Much like how PPE 🥽, proper training 📚, and clear protocols 📝 keep us safe at work, protecting our brain is equally as important 🧠 In our new study that focuses on trainees within the academic medical center, we found that psychological safety is driven by belonging, recognition, and respect. But here’s the key: getting there means digging deeper into what truly drives these feelings. ✅ Trust and confidence in mentors or supervisors influences trainees' sense of belonging and respect ✅ Trainee perception of organizational support plays a crucial role in fostering recognition and belonging ✅ Clarity in role expectations and autonomy were important for fostering a sense of recognition Whether you're a leader of graduate students and postdocs, or medical students, residents, and fellows - fostering psychological safety in demanding research-intensive or clinical settings is essential for trainee success. What are you doing to support #PsychologicalSafety in your trainees? Thank you to the team that made this paper possible - David Rogers, Katherine A. Meese, Ph.D, Katherine Sweeney, Christine Loyd, PhD, Megan Hays, Ph.D., ABPP, FAACVPR, and Robert Estes. Huge thank you to Valerie Minor, MS who is keeps me well and is my thought partner in all things creative (👀 that graphic!!). And, last but certainly not least, thank you to Advances in Medical Education and Practice (Dove Medical Press) for a seamless and enjoyable publishing process! #TraineeSupport #AcademicMedicine

Psychological safety is like a monument in the center of a thriving workforce. Its pillars of #Belonging, #Recognition, and #Respect are embedded in a foundation of organizational support, trust in leadership, and autonomy & role clarity. Without its supports, the monument will collapse.   Dr. Laurence Boitet's latest study dives into key factors that shape psychological safety for trainees, giving leaders evidence-based insights into supporting a thriving future workforce.   Read the full study to learn how supporting trainees' sense of safety can elevate group dynamics and organizational outcomes. https://lnkd.in/eN-kKXvM   #PsychologicalSafety #TraineeWellness #LearningEnvironments
