Heavydrive supported Montec with the installation of glass art in the Craiova Art Museum In the Craiova Art Museum Romania, renowned Romanian architect dorin STEFAN presents his latest work, the Brincusi Pavilion. The work of art consists of large glass panes in various special arrangements, mounted horizontally and vertically. The beholder rides in a circular glass lift from the ground floor up into the work of art above. As the glass elements were unable to be installed using conventional equipment, Heavydrive developed a special suction system. MONTEC GmbH, a company based in the Bavarian-Swabian town of Asbach-Bäumenheim, provided the entire assembly planning for this very special project and also carried out the entire assembly of the earthquake-proof steel substructure and the highly sensitive glass façade. Heavydrive is particularly pleased to have been able to support Montec GmbH in this challenge with the right glass installation equipment. For the glass pavilion, six panes from Finnglass measuring 2.4 by 12.5 metres and weighing 2.8 tonnes had to be set vertically in grooves. Plus, the elements have undulating contours and are narrower at the bottom than at the top. The challenge: Due to the differently shaped waves, it was not possible to suction on the panes directly. During installation, stability was critical. The crossbars had to be taken into consideration, and a strong wind was blowing The solution: Heavydrive developed special spacers on the suction cups for optimal suctioning and placement of the wavy panes. This project presented immense challenges. For #AmonnaroundtheWorld... How to protect a #woodenroof over two hundred years old without compromising its structural qualities, functionality and aesthetics? This was the #challenge he faced when renovating an ancient building in the historic centre of Florence. The refurbishment and the change of use of the building also required safety from a fire protection point of view. This raised the initial issue. In particular, the achievement of the 60-minute resistance requirement on slender elements such as trusses was a major problem. The solution came from our engineering department, which evaluated and proposed increasing the section of the existing slender elements with sacrificial wooden boards and then applying the #AmothermWoodWB intumescent cycle. World’s tallest 3D-printed structure to be built in Switzerland

When the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) started its expansion, it reached out to specialists willing to bring the noted Swedish architect, Peter Zumthor, vision to life.  G&G Door Products was vetted for the project and reached out to Stainless Doors. Nouly Dimitropoulos, Vice President for Stainless Doors, shared that all the engineering for the doors was reinvented.  Called a “floating door,” it has no frame and the closing mechanism is internal and located at the bottom.  With a finished concrete doorway, there is zero-tolerance — no margin for error.  The thickness of the door can not be machine bent, so Stainless Doors craftsmen did the work by hand.   Also part of the design and fabrication considerations is the myriad of state and local regulations to ensure safety, security, and functionality. 🏭 The Jutierhalle and the Tonnenhalle from 1926 are to become the centrepiece of the creative quarter on Leonrodplatz. Theatre, design, architecture and media professionals will find a home in the listed buildings after the renovation. 🏗️ However, the structure of the barrel hall has suffered greatly over the years. The self-supporting reinforced concrete structure is no longer stable. Before the delicate concrete components are reconstructed, they are prepared by blasting. After completion, artists will be given space on three levels to present their creativity in an appealing setting. 🛠️ To ensure stability until the renovation work is completed, the hall is stabilised with support scaffolding from Schäfer Gerüstbau. The loose concrete parts are blasted away, and the corrosion of the reinforcing bars is removed. Such work is very noisy. Cisilent type L was installed on the façade scaffolding to minimise noise pollution for neighbours during the construction period. An additional tarpaulin protects Cisilent type L against rebounding blasting material.
