PR Newswire: The 2024 Medscape Physician Compensation Report found 61% of doctors believe their profession is generally underpaid in the United States and 51% feel personally underpaid relative to their job duties.... As in previous years, this year's report found gender disparity in physician compensation with male physicians earning approximately 29% more than their female counterparts, underscoring ongoing concerns regarding pay equity within the medical profession. Over the previous year, the gender gap declined slightly for primary care physicians, but widened slightly for specialists. Additionally, the report reveals notable trends in racial and ethnic compensation disparities. Compensation for African American and Black physicians grew more than twice as fast as for any other racial or ethnic group. The Best and Worst States for #Optometrist Pay: The BLS estimated that, as of May 2023, the national mean salary for an optometrist was $143,000 annually. There was, however, wide variation in optometrist pay at the state level. According to reports from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there were almost 41,400 optometrists at work in the U.S. as of May 2023. Optometrists mainly work in health practitioner office settings, although smaller numbers can be found working in personal care stores and outpatient care centers. Easy, at-home treatment for female incontinence is available via telehealth! Visit www.levarx.com to meet with a clinician who will evaluate symptoms and prescribe the Leva Pelvic Health System if it can be helpful. Women are busy. Work and family demands can be barriers to medical appointments. It's also becoming increasingly difficult to find providers. Many have long wait lists. In fact, half of U.S. women skipped a preventive care service in 2022. One of the most common reasons: difficulty scheduling an appointment. 47% of the U.S. workforce are women, but a significant gender gap still exists in accessing medical care. Employers and health plan providers are stepping in to help close this gap. A recent Deloitte survey reveals that women are more likely than men to skip or delay medical care due to: · Cost · Waite times · Negative experience In the past year, according to this report, 50% of women reported delaying care compared to 37% of men. Women are 31% more likely to skip care due to cost and pay $15.4 billion more in out-of-pocket expenses than men annually. Even without maternity care, women still require 9.9% more healthcare services than men. Deloitte also found women are more likely to avoid mental health services due to cost. It’s time to bridge this gap and make healthcare accessible for everyone!
