Not long ago, our CEO Mark Rourke revealed an incredible statistic: Back when he first joined Schneider, the emissions produced by just one truck from the 1988 model year equaled those of 60 fuel-efficient trucks projected for 2024. To put it in perspective: a contemporary truck can make the journey from Los Angeles to New York with fewer carbon emissions than a truck from the '80s would emit driving from Green Bay to Chicago. I find this progress astounding, especially now that we have introduced zero-emission battery electric vehicles! We're absolutely thrilled to announce some exciting developments here at A&F– we're propelling ourselves into the future (quite literally) by expanding our #ElectricVehicle (#EV) charging infrastructure at our headquarters! 🌿⚡🚗 We've recently installed nine new electric charging points, bringing our total to an impressive fourteen! What's more, the four charging stations situated at the front of our building have the capability to charge two vehicles simultaneously, allowing us to accommodate a remarkable eighteen vehicles at once! Now that's what we call efficiency! Currently, we're proud to have eight hybrid or fully electric vehicles in our fleet. However, with the addition of these new charging points, we're setting our sights even higher. By the close of 2024, our ambitious target is to have a fleet totaling 17 hybrid/EVs – a testament to our unwavering commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. For us, the decision to invest in electric and hybrid vehicles was a natural progression. As a company deeply rooted in sustainability, we firmly believe that every step, no matter how small, contributes to a greener, cleaner planet for future generations. Embracing electric and hybrid vehicles is not only a practical choice but also a powerful statement of our commitment to environmental stewardship. So, what exactly spurred us to make this leap? In a recent class group discussion, we explored the topic of Electric Vehicles (EVs), touching on their environmental benefits, technology, and future potential. We talked about how EVs can help reduce pollution and reliance on fossil fuels, and discussed advancements in battery technology, as well as challenges like high costs and limited charging infrastructure. The debate also covered how government incentives are driving EV adoption and what improvements are needed for wider use. Overall, it was a well-rounded discussion about the growing role of EVs in shaping a more sustainable future.
