A few months ago, I had the distinct honor of attending an insightful event titled "Empowering Emerging Economies: G20 Presidencies in a Shifting World Order," organized by GHS in partnership with ORF. This event highlighted the critical role of the forthcoming G20 Presidencies led by Indonesia, India, Brazil, and South Africa. It was a unique opportunity to listen to distinguished speakers such as Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Kenneth Felix Haczynski da Nobrega, Cedrick C Crowley, and other esteemed experts. The discussions delved into the immense potential for these emerging economies to shape the global development agenda, emphasizing the importance of continuity and collaboration in addressing key global challenges. The T20 Communique is out and one of the recommendations to the G20 is to "establish Data20, a multistakeholder platform to enhance cooperation on global data governance: Data20 should serve as a hub for collaboration across the G20 and its existing formal engagement groups... Debates on data governance should be centered on crosscutting issues such as information integrity, climate justice, health, the future of work, nondiscriminatory Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, Digital Public Infrastructures (DPIs), and regulatory parity based on human rights and data justice". 

"4. Place indigenous peoples’ and traditional communities’ knowledge, participatory governance and equitable benefit-sharing at the core of the design and implementation of the G20 High-Level Principles on Bioeconomy and other relevant G20 instruments, such as the G20 High-Level Principles for Lifestyles for Sustainable Development. The G20 High-Level Principles on Bioeconomy should provide a clear and comprehensive definition of bioeconomy followed by a roadmap to attract financial support for bioeconomy strategies and projects, focusing on the following elements - i) protection and restoration of biological diversity and ecosystems; ii) alignment with the SDGs and the Paris Agreement; iii) circular economy; iv) community-centric approach placing indigenous peoples and traditional communities’ knowledge and local participatory governance at the heart, including by fully safeguarding the right to free, prior and informed consent, as well as preventing, mitigating and compensating for adverse social impacts; and v) fair and equitable benefits sharing with indigenous peoples, traditional communities and local populations." p26 It is really telling that the T20 Brasil communique is clear in directly linking a circular economy transformation with safeguarding local, indigenous, and traditional communities and their knowledge systems; thereby anchoring biodiversity regeneration, ecological ecosystem restoration, and turning the tide on locally led and inclusive sustainable development that leaves no one behind.

GCCs have proven to be incubation centers for tech innovation and are the growth engines for Indian economy. With GCCs playing more and more pivotal role in handling high-value strategic functions, they are increasingly taking complete ownership of entire business processes, from research to conceptualization to execution to results. GCCs are highly integrated into the Global operations with more and more Global roles transitioning to GCCs. Given a prolific growth of GCCs in numbers, impact and out-reach, their role in leading tech disruptions for meaningful outcomes becomes imperative. During the GCC Conclave 2024 by nasscom, I was glad to hear perspectives from industry leaders on the above and many more aspects like Talent, Leadership, Inclusion, Governance, Risks, Sustainability, Agility, Culture, Partnerships etc.. 👉 I had great time conversing with women GCC leaders during the Round Table Discussion on "Building the Next Generation of Women GCC Leaders". How can we solve some fundamental challenges that women face on their path to becoming GCC Leaders. Learnt greatly from Mamatha Madireddy, Veena Rao, Manu Dangi, Sangeeta Kumar, Sheenam Ohrie (also from her talk later), Anahita Tiwari, Anitha Scaria George, Lalitha Indrakanti, Shalini Pillay, Mohua Sengupta, Monica S Pirgal, Mukta Arora, Nathalie Bernardo, Rachana Bahadur and Leenika Khattar 👉 It was a privilege to hear Marshall Goldsmith during a fire-side chat chaired by Srikanth Velamakanni on the topic "Level Up! Yesterday's Strategies Won't Define Tomorrow's Success". He brought the human/spiritual side of executive leadership, which was not only informative, but also very refreshing to listen to. 👉 I had the opportunity to moderate a conversation on the topic of "Disruption from Within: Leveraging Tech as a Lever" with esteemed industry leaders - Anil Yadav, Sachin Kulkarni and Raphael Viard We did touch upon areas like - how tech is playing a key role in enabling GCCs to be differentiators, how are GCCs navigating the challenges that they are facing in driving tech adoption towards business value generation and how continuous technology innovation can be made possible via GCCs to unearth new avenues of growth & success.
