Alfred Lord Tennyson had once said, “Self-reverence, self-knowledge, self-control; these three alone lead life to sovereign power. ...” He made the statement while defining the meaning of sovereignty. Seventy-seven years of being independent have inculcated the core principles of sovereignty in all of us. We truly champion the doctrine of the notion. There is no dearth of nations that revel in the glory of being sovereign but over a period of time, they have been coerced to dance to the whims and fancies of bigger powers which have crushed their voices with their diktats. India on the contrary, has refused to acquiesce to foreign powers or Superpowers truly holding fort the quintessence of being sovereign and independent. Sovereignty is not only trusted but practised by the world’s largest democracy thus propelling us to the role of a superpower when it has come to palliate geo-political crises. On the auspicious occasion of #independenceday, let’s ensure we never renege on our sovereign values but on the contrary, take them to greater heights. Jai Hind! #happyindependenceday #freedom #vandemataram

Understanding Pakistan's Independence Day: August 14 vs. August 15 As Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day on August 14, it's intriguing to explore why this date differs from the August 15 independence date specified by the Indian Independence Act of 1947. Historical Context: The Indian Independence Act, enacted on July 5, 1947, and effective from August 15, 1947, established two dominions—India and Pakistan. This act officially marked the end of British rule and the birth of these two nations. Pakistan's Choice: Despite the act, Pakistan chose to celebrate its Independence Day on August 14. This decision was influenced by several factors: - Lord Mountbatten’s Role: Lord Mountbatten, the last British Viceroy, administered the oath of office to Pakistan’s first Governor-General, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, on August 14, due to logistical reasons. - Standard Time Adjustments: Historical changes in standard time also played a role, but the decision to celebrate a day earlier was largely symbolic and practical. - Cultural Significance: Celebrating on August 14 reinforces Pakistan’s distinct national identity and sovereignty. This date not only marks the end of colonial rule but also represents a unique historical journey for Pakistan. Understanding these nuances helps us appreciate the rich history and identity of nations. #IndependenceDay #India #Pakistan #History #CulturalIdentity #NationalPride

(A short Article by Tahir Mehmood) On the 76th Independence Day of Pakistan, I have an intellectual question: 'Are we genuinely independent?' The answer to this question can vary depending on individual opinions and how one defines independence. In my perspective, having a separate space is not independence. Independence means freedom in everything—from meditation to thoughts, emotions to speech. In fact, if a nation is unable to make its own decisions, even after having a separate region where people can live their dreams according to their wishes, then those people should not be considered truly as a nation of independent souls. However, this homeland turns 76 today, but it is like an infant. The reason is simple: greed and hunger of our dictators for power. Pakistan is the only country in the world that has experienced four martial laws, which means we are living forty years in past. Now the time has come for us to make enormous efforts to take our country to the skies of prosperity. It's now up to us to struggle for true independence and make this country a conducive region for the world.

On this Independence Day, we must pledge to truly safeguard our freedom. Protecting our borders is important, but freedom also means ensuring the rights and security of every citizen to live freely. Today, we must reflect on whether we are truly protecting these rights. If not, we need to reassess our actions and attitudes. Unfortunately, in Pakistan, some elements, under the guise of "true freedom," are pushing our beloved country towards political and economic instability. For them, patriotism is tied to their power, and in their pursuit of this power, they do not hesitate to become tools of foreign forces. We must remember that we exist because of Pakistan, and those who are destabilising Pakistan are not its friends. It is also a matter of concern that some people keep minorities in a state of insecurity and treat this as a business. They even trample upon court rulings on such issues under the guise of religion. We must understand that to preserve the blessing of freedom, we need to unite against all forms of oppression, injustice, and hatred. On this day, let us pledge to protect our freedom in every possible way and stand firmly against all forms of tyranny and injustice. May Allah grant us success in this mission. Ameen.
