Together, we are establishing two new centers in Abu Dhabi that will drive progress in AI development, focusing on safety, security, and real-world impact. 1st Center: Co-founded by G42 and Microsoft, with the support of the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), this center will develop best practices for the responsible use of AI in the Middle East and Global South. This center is a testament to Abu Dhabi's position as a global bridge between the North and South, fostering inclusive AI development that benefits all. 2nd Center: Microsoft’s AI for Good Lab expands to the Middle East, prioritizing the advancement of AI solutions for societal challenges like education, food security and climate resilience. This center will focus on ensuring that AI is representative of local communities, especially in underrepresented regions. Major news as Microsoft and Abu Dhabi (G42) announce their two projects on Artificial to ensure the responsible and altruistic use of artificial intelligence. The initiatives come several months after Microsoft announced a $1.5 billion investment in Abu Dhabi AI and cloud company G42. Plans to create a centre, founded and funded by Microsoft and G42, that will "identify, develop and advance best practices and industry standards for the responsible use of AI in the Middle East and the Global South" were unveiled on Tuesday. Microsoft, based in Redmond, Washington, also announced it would be opening a branch of its AI for Good Lab in Abu Dhabi, its first such centre in the Middle East.
