🏵 It's World Environment Day! This year the focus is on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience. Here in the UK, we now have less than half of our biodiversity remaining, and a lot of the damage can be attributed to a decline in natural habitats available. We still have time to reverse some of this damage, and work towards creating a greener, more biodiverse future. For businesses, it’s imperative that you are aware of and actively reducing your impact on nature. Not sure where to start? ISO 14001 offers a structured approach to environmental management, and can bring additional benefits such as: 🌳 Cost savings through reducing waste and making more efficient use of natural resources 🌳Avoid future fines and penalties for not meeting environmental legislation 🌳 Better community awareness of the impact of your activities on the local residents and nature If you’d like to learn more about ISO 14001, we have a series of podcasts to get you started: 🎙 What is ISO 14001? ➡ https://lnkd.in/gGgG8Hj 🎙 How to plan your Environmental Management System project ➡ https://lnkd.in/g-xEcva 🎙 What resources are needed for getting ISO 14001? ➡ https://lnkd.in/gTXEFtv #WorldEnvironmentDay #iso14001 #sustainability

New data reveals that water companies are failing to protect vital natural landscapes. The Guardian reports only 16% of their sites of special scientific interest (SSSIs) are in good condition, raising concerns about their commitment to environmental stewardship. 🌳 Environmentalists are demanding accountability; groups are accusing water companies of prioritising profits over environmental protection. ⚠️ There are calls for stricter regulations to ensure water companies take their environmental responsibilities seriously. 🎯 The government has set a goal of 30% nature protection by 2030 and water companies are being asked to contribute to the goals. Read the story here: https://lnkd.in/dcwH99Hd This is no small task. Given the increasing regulatory pressures and environmental challenges facing water companies, what innovative solutions can they adopt to balance their financial responsibilities with their environmental obligations to ensure the protection of SSSIs? #Water #Waterways #SSSI #Rivers #Sustainabity #Climate #Environment

🌍 **The Importance of Environmental Audits in Every Project** 🌍 In today's world, integrating environmental audits into every project isn't just a best practice—it's a necessity. These audits help identify potential environmental impacts, ensuring sustainable development and compliance with regulations. Ignoring them can lead to significant risks, including legal penalties, project delays, and environmental damage. Take the example of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010. A lack of thorough environmental auditing contributed to the disaster, causing catastrophic damage to marine ecosystems and costing billions in fines and cleanup efforts. By conducting regular environmental audits, we can mitigate risks, protect our planet, and pave the way for a sustainable future. 🌱 #Sustainability #EnvironmentalAudit #EcoFriendly #GreenProjects #ClimateAction

Local Water Partnership: Universal Model of Water Resources Management The conservation of water resources together with environment protection will be a challenge for the European Union within the 21st century. Water management nowadays involves the cooperation of farmers, societies, industry and public administration. The solution based model of water protection in this book describes the creation of local water partnerships by local actors and stakeholders for the management of local water resources. These local water partnerships will enable the integration of the local community to comprehensively solve problems related to water security, while also cooperating with neighbouring partnerships. The local water strategy is based on local needs and priorities with reference to regional, national and global objectives. This strategy also provides for environment and species protection, as envisioned by the New Green Deal and the current EU actions to make the key economic sectors more resistant to climate change. The model for water protection can also be used to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental transformation within Europe. Frameworks for environmental management can be reviewed however, the environment isn't static due to many contributing factors. Furthermore, environmental disasters will always occur but, inconsiderate human activities exacerbates the impact these environmental disasters. Therefore the question is, how is everyone embracing their responsibilities in protecting the environment amidst the government taking lead in awareness creation and other interventions?
