NVIDIA HQ is a ghost town this week, as lots of the company went to #Computex2024 in Taipei. NVIDIA is always present there, but this past Sunday Jensen Huang gave a keynote about how AI is kicking off another industrial revolution. As someone that consumes a lot of AI content weekly, trust me - you want to hear what Jensen has to say about NIMs. Here's an analogy to understand NIMs and how they will revolutionize the way we build apps. Here's how Jensen explains NIMs in the keynote: Working with NIMs is similar to assembling a high-performing team to work on a project. Each team member is a specialist and brings their own expertise to the table. Like GPUs, the NIMs operate in parallel, collaborating to achieve a common goal -- like a human product team building a new application for example. In the same way, NIMs are pre-trained AI components that can be combined to create complex applications. Imagine you have a project that requires different specialists -- like an engineer, a designer, and a data scientist. Traditionally, you would need to code instructions for each of them. However, with NIMs, you can think of them as these pre-trained specialists. You provide a high-level task, and assign one NIM as the project lead (they're like the Product Manager in tech). The lead NIM delegates the work to the most appropriate NIMs based on their areas of expertise. Then, they all work together in parallel, just like a human team, to deliver the desired outcome. It's so much like NVIDIA GPUs...and it's revolutionary for industries globally. The whole keynote is great, but if you're tight on time, just cut to the part about NIMs (starts around 51:22). Wowza. 🤓

Inference Microservices (NIMs): a new approach to speed generative AI model deployment from weeks to minutes 8. Nvidia announces drug discovery using AI with BioNeMo NIMs Implications: - AI Naysayers are generally going to be left behind - Invest atleast 20-30% of effort exploring and testing AI - Leverage platforms and proprietary models - Prepare your people to adopt AI and prepare for the change that may be coming as its implemented within your organisation - Study the competition as there are both existing and new competitors quietly experimenting and investing in technology to take your market share Highlight: - Learning how a business can own the ecosystem with incredible implications of its business valuation (When everyone is digging for gold...
