Happy International women’s day.😊 In commemoration of International Women’s day, We are joining the United Nations to take a stand to invest in women and accelerate progress. Volunteering has never been about spare time for me. It's about investing in a future where the brilliance of women and girls illuminates every corner of the world. As Malala Yousafzai so powerfully stated, "One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world." Witnessing the potential unleashed when women and girls are empowered is a privilege and a call to action. Through volunteering, I get the incredible opportunity to be a small part of that change. Every hour spent mentoring young girls, advocating for women's rights, or supporting female-led initiatives is a seed sown for a more equitable future. Let's bridge the gender gap, not with empty words, but with dedicated action. Join me in volunteering for causes that champion the power of women and girls. Together, we can rewrite the narrative. #EmpoweringWomen #BridgingTheGap #VolunteerForChange #InvestInHer #SheChangesTheWorld Women's Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) wteconline

Ever wondered where's the money for feminist organising? Have your say in a new survey by Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID)! Only 1% of philanthropic and development funding directly supports feminist-led social change. To ensure that funding aligns with the needs and priorities of feminist movements, we need your voice! Who can participate? This survey is open to all groups, NGOs, and movements working for the rights of women and LGBTQI+ people, regardless of registration status or how long you’ve been active. The survey is available in Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. 🌍 We live in a world facing multiple crises, and it can feel like trying to make a difference is like dropping a pebble in the ocean. But when you partner with UNICEF Österreich, things are different. Take Malawi, for example. Access to clean water is a major issue here. Many kids, especially girls, miss school because they’re either sick from waterborne diseases or spending hours each day collecting water. UNICEF is addressing this with a simple yet powerful solution: solar-powered water systems and climate-resistant deep boreholes. These systems provide a reliable, sustainable water source, and are built to withstand extreme weather, making sure communities have access to water no matter the conditions. What’s so amazing about this approach is that it tackles several problems at once. It’s about clean water (SDG 6), keeping kids in school (SDG 4), supporting gender equality (SDG 5), and building climate resilience (SDG 13). UNICEF shows how one solution can create lasting change across multiple areas. ✔️ UNICEF takes on multiple challenges at once, making real progress on goals like clean water, education, and gender equality. ✔️ UNICEF uses a data-driven approach to ensure every project has measurable, lasting results. ✔️ With decades of experience and a global network, UNICEF knows how to turn tough challenges into meaningful opportunities for change. By partnering with UNICEF, whether as a business or philanthropist, you’ll be making a real difference, helping to create a more sustainable future where children and communities can thrive, no matter the challenges they face. NEW REPORT by the Center for Effective Philanthropy 👉 “Bridging the Gap: The Role of Intermediary Funders” At WomenStrong International, we know the power of strong partnerships in making lasting change. As an intermediary funder, we work hand-in-hand with grassroots organizations to “bridge the gap” between communities and larger funding sources, ensuring that resources reach those on the frontlines of the fight for gender equality. A new report by the Center for Effective Philanthropy highlights how intermediary funders like WomenStrong help build trust, strengthen relationships, and increase impact by listening to grantee partners and responding to their needs. 🌍✨ Together, we’re driving social change from the ground up, empowering women and girls, and transforming communities. 🔗 Read more about the role of intermediary funders in advancing equity and justice: https://lnkd.in/eHTQ-5yC #WomenStrong #IntermediaryFunder #Philanthropy #SocialJustice #GenderEquality #Grantmaking #BridgingTheGap

Many nonprofits exist to improve the lives of women, children and other disadvantaged groups. For me, this is exactly why it's so important to have women at the table where decisions are being made. Similarly, having a board that includes at least some representation of the people the organization serves can be really powerful. At Athena, I work with nonprofits of varying sizes - rather than entering into a binary gender debate, I believe we need to focus on fostering collaboration and inclusivity to drive meaningful change. So how do we empower more women to ascend the career ladder to executive roles in larger nonprofits, while encouraging men to address the issues affecting their direct communities?

The new Global Resources Report has landed! This is the most comprehensive record of funding for LGBTI communities worldwide and a decade of data makes this report the most comprehensive and important to date. The headline is really heartening – a 56% increase in funding in 2021-22 for LGBTI issues in the Global South and East. A testament to the work of activists around the globe making the case for their work and achieving change. More needs to be done (global funding for LGBTI rights still represents only 39c in every $100 of foundation spending), but progress is being made. Like all reports, the devil is in the detail – this increase in funding is not equitable and growth is not always guaranteed. 61% of all funding continues to focus on the Global North and 60 countries saw reductions in the amount of funding they received. Strikingly, Southern Africa has seen almost no increase in the funding it receives since 2013. Just accounting for inflation, this is a significant real terms reduction in funding over the decade. Lots more to learn from this report and thanks to the amazing team behind it! Ezra Berkley Nepon, Jay Postic, David Scamell, Matthew Hart, Global Philanthropy Project, Inc.

🌟 Happy International Women's Day! On this significant occasion, let us proudly celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women worldwide. In a recent conversation with a former colleague, who has been working in Kenya over the past few months, I gained insights into the challenges faced by young women in less fortunate circumstances. Sadly, like many third-world countries, they grapple with limited resources, hindering their opportunities for growth. Specifically, the lack of sanitary products not only impedes their ability to work and earn independently for their families but also subjects them to feelings of shame and lack of self-worth. It is disheartening to realize that, as women, we universally undergo this natural phase of life as part of growing up. As we unite to celebrate International Women's Day, let us transform our concern into empowerment. Together, we can ignite change by fostering dreams, opening doors, and creating a future where every young girl believes in her innate potential. If you feel compelled like I did to make a difference, please consider contributing to the UKAID fund through ActionAid. A small donation as little as £3.00 can go a long way in helping someone feel more dignified in their day. Your generosity can have a profound emotional impact, far surpassing the fleeting pleasure of a cup of coffee which could cost more than £3.00. Join us in making a lasting impact: https://lnkd.in/e2MHHBZ5 🌟Happy International Women's Day – a moment that calls for positive change and increased support for women facing challenges worldwide no matter what they may be.🚺🌍
