Really grateful to have received the Poster Award of the Disease Area "Diffuse Parenchymal Lung Diseases". A huge thanks to my supervisor Ana Pardo-Saganta for giving me the opportunity to pursue my PhD under her guidance. Synthetic biology is the future

The djR again has something flowing in the pipeline 🎉 Two weeks ago, the djR reunited at the annual DRG symposium. Besides interesting talks focused on rheology, we also planned a bit for the coming months 👩🔬 📅 For instance, we would like to advertise the upcoming joint conference with DRG and the Nordic Rheology Society. The conference will take place in Berlin from June 10-12, 2025. Save the date and stay tuned for more updates 🤓 🌞 We have also been discussing how to improve collaboration between members of the working groups. We hope to help and inspire each other in the field of rheology, regardless of application, materials, and experience with rheology. FHIR to OMOP Cookbook - Mapping mCODE FHIR Resources for Observational Research #OHDSISocialShowcase #JoinTheJourney Lead: Qi Yang Team: Guy Livne, Sebastiaan van Sandijk, May Terry Background: How aligned are FHIR and the OMOP CDM for use in oncology observational studies? This was explored with two well-recognized standards - the minimum Common Oncology Data Elements (mCODE) Health Level 7 (HL7) Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) specification and the OMOP Common Data Model (CDM). mCODE has been adopted by at least 30 organizations and specified in United States federal initiatives like the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) USCDI+ for Cancer and the CMS Enhancing Oncology Model (EOM). The OHDSI framework, built on the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model (CDM), has been widely and internationally adopted as a standard for large-scale collaboration for healthcare observational research and analytics. While both FHIR and OHDSI frameworks have been recognized as complementary and fit for purpose, it is unclear how well a model initially designed for EHR capture and data exchange is well suited for observational studies. https://lnkd.in/excBYrDA

A region of unmatched innovation: how HALRIC connects industry to cutting-edge research infrastructures At yesterday’s Medicon Valley Alliance's R&D Network meeting companies had the opportunity to explore how our unique research infrastructures (RIs) can drive their innovations. Stephan Bouman highlighted that our region, the northern part of Europe, is unparalleled in the density of large-scale advanced RIs. Complemented by cutting-edge RIs at our research institutions, this forms a true goldmine for Life Science companies. 💡 Highlights from the meeting include: Emanuel Larsson (Lund University) shared how HALRIC Hanseatic Life Science Research Infrastructure Consortium bridges large-scale RIs with cutting-edge facilities at our world-class universities. Through HALRIC, industry stakeholders gain access to advanced technologies and the expertise needed to analyze the vast datasets generated. Together, this enables companies to tackle complex research challenges and uncover valuable insights. Pernille Rose Jensen (DTU - Technical University of Denmark) showcased a HALRIC pilot project revolutionizing the fight against antibiotic resistance. With drug-resistant infections predicted to cause more deaths than cancer by 2050, innovative organ-on-chip technologies – compatible with NMR and microscopy – are unlocking new treatment possibilities of antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections.   Björn Walse (SARomics Biostructures AB) and Andreas B. (EMBION, Aarhus University) highlighted how structural insights through crystallography and Cryo-EM can provide structural insights at near-atomic resolution, offering transformative opportunities to understand molecular systems.   Maryam Olsson explained how MAX IV Laboratory’s advanced synchrotron X-ray capabilities are accelerating Life Science R&D across biologically relevant length scales, from biomolecules to tissues. This event aimed to connect companies with cutting-edge technologies and large-scale RIs to transform complex challenges into innovative solutions. Calling all MYO7A Researchers - We want to fund your work! Save Sight Now is a patient-led organization partnered with the Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) to identify and fund promising Usher syndrome type 1B research. We raise approximately $400,000 annually, specifically to support research—both gene-agnostic and gene-specific—that will benefit individuals living with Usher syndrome type 1B. As a fiscally sponsored organization of FFB, our funding is restricted to MYO7A research and undergoes the same rigorous review process by their renowned Scientific Advisory Board, following the same grant cycle. This year, we are particularly interested in funding therapeutic development, but also open to other research areas. In previous years, we have focused our funding on animal and cell models, natural history studies, and research aimed at better understanding the basic biology and disease mechanisms of MYO7A.
