Hi friend, Almost nothing matters more to me than feeling present, connected, & creative. I've likely said this to you before. These three qualities matter because they are my checkboxes for knowing and feeling alive. It's easy to lose track of that, somehow. Does that happen to you, too? I'm too easily lost in the minutiae of daily life, the grind. Writing is my practice of bringing awareness to what is. For example, this week I wrote a love poem. In the midst of a major relationship shift, it feels crucial to remember that love is the reason I'm here. Love is why I'm doing this hard work of challenging habituated patterns, desperately trying to become a more skillful human and partner. Working on the poem helps me connect with feeling love. Creating helps me become present at a painful time. This week, I learned about protactile language while exploring the work of deafblind poet John Lee Clark. Protactile is a language of touch and movement. Watching Mr. Clark communicate with a group of people brought me to tears. The piece is all the things: present, connected, and creative. What's radical about the practice of present, connected, and creative is that it is here and now. It is in opposition to absent/disassociated, disconnected, and stuck. It directs attention toward what is good in our lives. If it's helpful for you, I share it gladly. #PaviniMoray #HowToHoldPower #GlitterJoyrideSubstack #Somatics #TraumaHealing #LiberationWriting #TendingTheBones #TraumaQueerTheNovel
