As a fish farmer, I understand the role of aquaculture in promoting environmental sustainability if done right. 📍Aquaculture allows maximal use of limited resources which is land. A small piece of land that might not be suitable for arable crops can accommodate a tank or a concrete pond to raise fish for consumption and commercial purposes. 📍There is no waste with aquaculture. Fish effluents can serve as organic manure to plants. This is used in most aquaponics systems. 📍Fish wastes from processing can be used in the formulation of feed for livestock. In an integrated aquaculture system wastes from other animals can be fed to fish (e.g poultry-cum-fish) So when you think of sustainable land usage, aquaculture.
