WHAT IS SPEED TAPE??? Speed tape is a high-strength adhesive tape used in aviation and other industries for temporary repairs. Made from materials like aluminum or polyester, it can withstand extreme temperatures and harsh conditions. In aviation, speed tape is often used to secure loose components or cover minor surface damage until a more permanent repair can be made. Its effectiveness and ease of application make it a vital tool for quick fixes. #speedtapeairlines #aviationknowledge #aviationdaily #aviationlovers #aviationgeek #aviation #fypシ

Worth Knowing about Aircraft Wheels and Tires The wheels and tires support the full weight of that aircraft while on the ground, and transmit the static and dynamic loads generated during taxi, take-off and landing into the aircraft's shock absorption system (oleo-pneumatic shock absorber or steel spring). Wheel is the cylindrical metallic structure that is connected to the landing gear axle through bearings, and is shaped to provide a seating surface for the tire Wheels are typically made from aluminium or magnesium alloy. Tire is made primarily from rubber, and is the only part of the aircraft that comes in contact with the ground. Wheels are constructed in two pieces and then fastened together after the tire is installed bolted, together with an o-ring in the centre to form a tight rim seal. Fusible plug on Wheel is designed to melt at high temperatures, deflating the Tire; preventing an explosion during a heavy landing. Excessive braking can quickly raise the temperature of the tire also increasing pressure to a point the tire may blow-out thus Pressure Relief Valve. It is necessary to pay close attention to the Wheel Assembly during a Pre-flight inspection and Quick turnaround inspection. Check all nuts and bolts are secured and that no obvious cracks, broken bolts or evidence of overheating are present. Tires should be checked for tread wear, correct inflation pressures and any flat spots or foreign object damage (FOD) Over-inflated will tend to wear towards the centre of the tread, under-inflated tires will wear towards the tire shoulders Building and Disassembling of Wheel Assy must be carried out in accordance with CMM. When more than two wheels are attached to a landing gear strut, the attaching mechanism is known as a bogie.

This is a fully toasted aircraft wheel we received🛞🔥… When some wheel is this yellow it is a sign of overheat and the confirmation is the melted fuse plugs. When excessive heat is produced in the brakes, it reaches the wheel increasing the pressure inside the tire that slowly deflates through the melted holes. But it is not the only effect of high wheel temperatures, it can soften the aluminum to a point where it cannot support any more landings. So we have to test the hardness measuring the indentation generated by a diamond tip.✈️🇺🇸. #srtechnics_spain

During an overhaul of a aircraft piston engine, cylinder lapping is a critical step, typically recommended after 1500 to 2000 hours of operation or 12 years, whichever comes first. This process ensures smooth cylinder surfaces, preventing magdrop and enabling precise valve opening and closing at specified intervals.
