Each year some of the top SpLD specialists in their given profession come together for our Annual Conference. Held on Saturday 20th April 2024, this year's keynote is from Professor Charles Perfetti - Progress in Reading Science and its Uneven Impact on Practice As a run-up to the conference day we are making all six seminars available to all delegates THREE weeks in advance, so you have the opportunity to watch them all before the day and submit questions to be put to the speakers in LIVE Q&A sessions in the afternoon of the conference. The seminars will not be shown live at the conference, but our speakers will be present at the event on the 20th for live Question Time panel sessions with delegates. The keynote address will be presented on 20th April with a LIVE Q&A session with Professor Perfetti following. Recordings from the day, along with all the seminar recordings, will be available on the conference page for THREE weeks after the conference. Delegates will be given access to the conference page by the admin team via a special link three weeks before, or when they book the conference. Using the conference platform, you will also be able to network with other delegates, interact with sponsors and exhibitors and meet virtually with other attendees whose interests match yours with our improved networking service. It’s been two weeks since the conclusion of the LRI Spring Meeting, and we're still buzzing with excitement to share some reflections, and updates on the upcoming 'Highlights of LRI Spring Meeting'. 𝐈𝐧-𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐑𝐈 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: The evaluation survey garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, with some expressing: “Every year, the diverse aspects of leprosy covered during the LRI Spring Meeting provide a compelling reminder of why leprosy research remains crucial and relevant”. Others described it as “a powerful forum with a very talented and committed group of people”. 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 ‘𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐑𝐈 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠’ 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐲 30𝐭𝐡! Last year, LRI hosted the online "Highlights of LRI Spring Meeting" event for the first time, and after its success in reaching global audiences, the webinar is returning this year on May 30th, from 14:00 to 16:30 CEST. The event will include the showcasing of selected project progress presentations from the in-person meeting and a special session on LRI research impact, sharing important findings from LRI-funded projects while allowing for global participation. The event is open to everyone with an interest in leprosy research, and participation is completely free-of-charge. The largest challenge lies with the systems innovation in public service that’s where people, their livelihood and meaning as well as all tangible and intangible stakes and flows come together. We have seen many project and experiments working this but what about the programs of projects, the large movements of systems innovation? What can we learn from those that happen and how to upscale the smaller movements? What common hurdles do we see? Is it budget? Is it a glass cieling of change stopping managers and directors in the public sector? How can we liquify that to have the large impactful movements emerge. We are living through a momentous period of change as we transition our energy systems to renewable. The change is both technological and social. It is imperative that we not only shape the technological agenda but we also share the vision and the leadership needed to transition effectively.
