The struggle a thyroid patient endures is real. The hormonal imbalance plays havoc on the mind making day-to-day functioning a nightmare. Did you know that according to Ayurveda, thyroid health is directly proportional to one’s gut function and #metabolism? When this goes out of whack, brain fog follows as a result of the gut-brain axis disorder. Myth #1: Brain fog is all in your head Absolutely not. Brain fog is caused due to impaired gut-brain axis functioning. Once that is corrected, the brain fog is replaced by clarity of senses. Myth #2: Hypothyroidism ALWAYS causes weight gain No. Only 70% of the population with #hypothyroidism experiences weight gain while the rest have weight loss. Myth #3: Thyroid patients are lazy No one wishes to be lazy. It is a case of faulty metabolism that causes the sluggishness. Correcting the imbalance will have them functioning with perfect clarity of mind and efficiency. Myth #4: Thyroid hair loss cannot be fixed Perfect hair health lies in the nourishment of one’s bones. While this may sound strange to those not familiar with Ayurveda, the strengthening of bones will immediately lead to reversal in hair fall. Myth #5: Pills are for life Don’t ever believe any statement as a one-size-fits-all when it comes to health. Lifelong dependency on pills need not be applicable to everyone. Timely intervention with the administration of the required herbs and necessary diet can help reverse the imbalance. The thyroid-afflicted journey can seem long and lonely. But contact an #Ayurveda health expert who specialises in thyroid imbalance reversal to regain the vitality of your life. #thyroid #thyroidhealth #healthyliving

Ever find yourself forgetting something important or misplacing your keys? It happens to all of us, but what if these lapses are signs of a deeper issue affecting the brain? As we observed Alzheimer’s Day last month, it’s important to reflect on memory loss and cognitive impairment, which can sometimes stem from underlying diseases. Ayurveda offers effective remedies, notably BRAHMEE GHRUTHAM, a revered rasayana used for centuries to support cognitive health. Clinical studies highlight the cognitive benefits of Brahmee Ghrutham, demonstrating improvements in executive functions, auditory-verbal learning, attention, processing speed, concentration, cognitive flexibility, verbal fluency, and memory. Source-https://lnkd.in/grNHYU9g In vivo studies also show that Bacopa monneri (L.) Pennell can elevate cerebral glutamic acid and temporarily increase gamma-aminobutyric acid, which may enhance learning processes. Modern Science Validates Ayurveda Part 1: Mind-Body Connection Stress and Immunity: Numerous studies support the link between chronic stress and a weakened immune system. Research suggests stress hormones like cortisol can suppress immune cell activity, making us more susceptible to illness. Inflammation and Depression: Research suggests a link between chronic depression and increased inflammation in the body, a key factor in various diseases like heart disease and arthritis. Epigenetics and Mind-Body Connection: Emerging research explores how our thoughts and experiences can influence gene expression through epigenetics. This suggests the mind may play a role in disease risk beyond just behavior. Overall: Science is catching up to what many cultures have known for centuries - our minds and bodies are deeply connected. By understanding and nurturing this connection, we can unlock a world of potential for improving our physical and mental well-being. #mindbodyconnection #mindbody #wellbeing #holistichealth #wellnessjourney #healthylifestyle #mentalhealth #stressrelief #healing #selfcare #healthyhabits #positivevibes #positivethinking #positivepsychology #science #research #stress #immunity #cortisol #optimism #gratitude #hope #healingjourney #brainhealth #neuroscience #meditation #mindfulness #ayurveda #traditionalmedicine #mentalhealthmatters #healthyliving #selflove #motivation #fitness #yoga #lifehacks #healthytips

https://lnkd.in/gNcVAUSR Article title: Diagnosis and management of primary hypothyroidism in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Traditional Indian Medicine (Ayurveda) Author(s): Sharad Panthi; Tianshu Gao Journal: International Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism Journal ISSN: 2640-7582 Abstract: Primary hypothyroidism is one of the most common endocrine disorders. TCM and Ayurveda are the two giant ancient systems of medicine flourished in China and Indian sub-continent respectively. The term like hypothyroidism is not mentioned in both classical literatures of TCM and Ayurveda but the features nearest to hypothyroidism are described in both. In TCM the disorders like Xulao (consumptive disease), Xusun (wasting) and Yinbing (thyroid swelling) can be closely correlated with hypothyroidism while in Ayurveda the disorder Galaganda (enlarged thyroid gland) is the nearest one. According to TCM the pathogenesis of hypothyroidism lies in liver depression as well as spleen and kidney yang deficiency while Ayurveda believes it is due to imbalance of Tridosha (three bodily humours) and treatment is directed accordingly. #PrimaryHypothyroidism #Xulao #Xusun #Yinbing #Galaganda #LiverDepression #SpleenAndKidneyYangDeficiency #Tridosh #EndocrineGlands #Hormones #HormoneMetabolism #StructureAndPhysiochemicalProperties #HormonalReceptors #SignalingMechanisms #HormoneRegulatedGeneExpression #IntracellularSteroidAndLipidMetabolism #BoneAndMineralMetabolism #Infertility #Peertechz #PeertechzPublications #SexualDifferentiation #Puberty #PediatricEndocrinology #EndocrinePharmacology #MolecularEndocrinology #GastrointestinalEndocrinology #Neuroendocrinology #ComparativeEndocrinology #CardiovascularEndocrinology #ReproductiveEndocrinology

When you’re trying to swim against the tide, your arms tire. And then, when suddenly you find a few others swimming in the same direction, you get a sudden reprieve - like you’re among “your peeps” finally. I had that feeling of being in the slip-stream of kindred practitioners in the field of integrated fertility recently. Garbha Gudi, a successful IVF chain in Bengaluru, held a panel discussion on the topic of IVF, Ayurveda,Yoga & Nutrition: Enhancing Fertility Through Holistic Approaches. I had the good fortune to participate in this panel virtually, while other practitioners were in Bengaluru for the same. It was such a breath of fresh air to hear the allopathic and ayurvedic doctors speak the same language that we use at Sepalika Fertility! The doctors on the panel all agreed that “unexplained infertility” is often a result of causes beyond the reproductive system. Helping clients cleanse their body, get the right nutrition and supplementation and manage their stress better - were the hallmarks of the integrated approach all of us agreed on. IVF is nothing short of a miracle, but even its success rates can be improved if we address the core health of patients first. #IntegratedFertility #HolisticHealth #IVF #Ayurveda #YogaForFertility #NutritionForFertility #UnexplainedInfertility #FunctionalMedicine #FertilitySupport #WellnessJourney #CollaborativeCare #GarbhaGudi #SepalikaFertility #ReproductiveHealth #MindBodyConnection #SepalikaFertility

As part of Skåneveckan, I’ll be giving a free talk on the relationship between gut health and mental health. “Chemicals released by the gut microbiome can influence brain development, starting from birth. A review from 2015 states that the gut microbiome influences the CNS by “regulating brain chemistry and influencing neuro-endocrine systems associated with stress response, anxiety and memory function”. The gut, sometimes referred to as the “second brain”, may use the same type of neural network as the CNS, suggesting why it could have a role in brain function and mental health.” Research has since exploded on the gut-brain axis, however this is something that Ayurveda has acknowledged for thousands of years. No organ in the body exists in isolation and any imbalance in any area of the body has a knock on effect in all other areas. Ayurveda is also very specific about Agni(digestive fire) and it’s locations in the body, including the mind. When our Agni weakens, so does our capacity to think and feel clearly. It is possible to help our mind fire better, including our clarity, discernment, and critical thinking skills, plus our overall sense of well being. Doubt, indecision, confusion and worry can be addressed through Ayurveda. 💥 I will discuss this and more on Friday, October 11. The Electric Fluid of the Nervous System: A Modern Hypothesis of Vata in Ayurveda The metaphor of electric fluid flowing through the body can be linked to the nervous system's electrical impulses, which regulate critical functions like muscle movement, sensory perception, and communication throughout the body. In Ayurveda, Vata's qualities—light, cold, dry, subtle, rough, and mobile - bear a striking resemblance to the behavior of these electrical signals, offering an insightful parallel between vedic and modern science. Vata and Electrical Impulses: A Scientific Paradox Vata’s subtlety and mobility align with the way electrical impulses move rapidly and invisibly through the body, controlling everything from involuntary functions, like heartbeat, to voluntary movements like walking. The cold and dry characteristics of Vata can represent the streamlined efficiency of electrical signals, which travel without excess heat or moisture along nerve pathways. The rough quality of Vata mirrors the sharp, on-off nature of nerve signals that result in distinct physiological responses. Vata Imbalance: Akin to Nervous System Dysregulation Exploring Vata imbalances reveals parallels with nervous system dysregulation. Just as irregular electrical impulses can cause short circuits in electrical systems, Vata imbalances—manifesting as erratic nerve activity—can lead to issues like tremors, anxiety, or other irregular bodily functions. This underlines how crucial Vata is in maintaining physiological equilibrium. Basti, Agnikarma, and Marma Therapy: Stimulation of Nerves Through Heat, Mechanical Pressure, and Chemical Interaction Panchakarma’s Basti therapy targets Vata imbalances by stimulating the sensitive nerves in the colon, which are highly responsive to heat, mechanical, and chemical stimuli. The warmth of the medicated substances activates nerve endings that are sensitive to thermal changes. Mechanical stimulation occurs as the enema exerts gentle pressure on the intestinal walls, further exciting the nerves. Additionally, the chemical properties of the medicinal molecules interact directly with the nerves, nourishing them and providing essential nutrients that support their regeneration. These sensitive nerves respond by reactivating the disrupted neural pathways, effectively rekindling the flow of electrical impulses throughout the body. This restored nerve function helps to correct the imbalances in Vata, allowing for smoother physiological regulation. #ayurveda #vata #electrophysiology #nervoussystem #modernmedicine #panchakarma #basti #agnikarma #marma #nervehealth #scientifichypothesis #traditionalmedicine #healthandwellness #neurology #electricalimpulses #holistichealth #mindbodyconnection

🌿 Understanding Dementia Through Ayurveda 🧠 Dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, has touched my life deeply. All my grandparents suffered from it, and watching them struggle inspired me to search for real solutions. Ayurveda views dementia differently. It doesn’t just look at symptoms but goes deeper to find the root cause. A key idea is the balance of the body’s energies, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha and the role of the digestive fire (Agni). When digestion is weak, toxins (Ama) build up, affecting the brain and memory. For example, when Vata is too high, it can lead to anxiety and confusion. Excess Pitta might cause inflammation, and too much Kapha can slow down the mind. Ayurveda works to rebalance these energies, strengthen digestion, and nourish the brain. This holistic approach offers hope, not just for managing dementia but for preventing it. If you would like to learn more about how Ayurveda addresses the root causes of dementia, and how it can help you or your loved ones, I would like to invite you to read this article: https://lnkd.in/eCADAsWu If you feel this approach resonates with you, I encourage you to reach out for personalised guidance Let’s explore better ways to care for our minds and bodies together.
