I love summer. The days are long, and time feels to slow down. For me, it’s a great time to tap into my creativity. What have I been putting off? What is bubbling up? What do I want to develop? In the same vein, I take time to review my goals and reflect on whether I’m working towards them or away from them – maybe it’s time to change one all together. In general, the slower days of summer are a perfect time to check-in on my overall well-being. One of my favorite methods for delving into all of the above is journaling – an age-old practice of recording thoughts, feelings, and ideas on paper. Naturally, it’s a practice I encourage children and their parents to engage in too. A great way to get your child started with journaling is to challenge them to document their summer. It is a fun way to keep them writing and reflecting throughout the summer to avoid that dreaded summer slump. We’ll be doing some songwriting this summer during Writer’s Workshop. Day 11 Some unplanned things are more beautiful than those you would have planned for weeks and months. Recently, we visited Ooty. Things happened in less than 2 days, and guess what? It turned out to be more than amazing. I have planned for weeks for some other vacations, which simply ended up as a disaster(not all, but still). It's not just about a vacation; this can be true for anything you do. I believe in intuition. Planning something for weeks has never worked for me; it just ends up as a plan that never came out of discussions. If something has come to your mind after reading this, comment here. I added a pic of what I saw in the garden during our stay at the end. #writeup #writingchallenge

Writer’s block is not real; the idea that it needs to be perfectly written is what’s blocking you. Once you start writing, the process will take care of itself.

🍂 We're coming into Autumn in the UK, and likewise some of us will be feeling the approach of the Autumn metaphorically - starting to consider things about their stage in life that they maybe hadn't done before. Our message is, and always has been, write your will and get on with your life. Once it's done, you know they things you care about are protected, and you can carry on with peace of mind. #WillWriting #EstatePlanning #Autumn

I know they're called the Lazy Days of Summer, but to me they just seem busy. All of the structure I rely on the rest of the year is gone, and I'm scrambling to plan outings, pack all of the things everywhere (why do summer activities require so much stuff?), pick the berries in the garden, water the plants, take kids to day camp, get to the library for summer reading, BBQs with friends, family reunions, and on and on. Same for you? And when I'm not running around tackling that list I'd like a few minutes relaxing in my hammock, please! After all of that, writing is often the last thing I want to do. But that is the beauty of 100 Words July! The goal is to write 100 words on your WIP every day in July. Just 100 words! That's about a paragraph, which feels pretty accessible. If you write those 100 words and want to keep going, go for it! If you'd rather close the laptop and enjoy the sunset, do it! And if you miss a day? Life will go on! There's no need to make up any missed days, just recommit to showing up tomorrow. You CAN fit writing into your summer, even with the fluid schedules, sun and fun! It's not too late to join me, so head over to my Instagram feed for all the details. #BookCoach #BookCoaching #FictionCoach #WriteYourBook #WritingHelp

In school, the assigned books never quite sparked my interest. Honestly, I did not read most. Being told what to read left me feeling unmotivated and uninspired. Instead, I relied on what I'd call efficient study methods (Thanks SparkNotes LLC! 😉). Surprisingly, I often outperformed peers who diligently read the assigned texts. But recently, something changed. 👀 These once-forgotten books have now become my go-to for leisure, offering a perfect counterbalance to my academic readings. Each page offers valuable life lessons and echoes experiences I've encountered since my school days. It's funny how perspective evolves over time. 🙃 So, what's in my leisure reading pipeline? 📚 - Recents: Animal Farm and The Alchemist (Akinfolarin Oluwaseun's personal favorite) - Personal favorite: The Little Prince (I recently gifted it to Andres (Tito) Moreno) - Next up: 1984 or Catcher in the Rye - Honorable mentions (leisure but not from school): Mistborn Trilogy (rec by Eduardo Monge) and The Wager (rec by Felipe Marchena and Michael J. Rohleder) If you avoided assigned reading in school like I did, I urge you to give them a second chance. I'm always open to suggestions for new reads too! 😁 #reading #leisure #secondchance
