Dear Colleagues, I am pleased to inform you that the next CCRI Webinar: Neutron spectrometry in radiation protection by Robert Bedogni (INFN) will be held on Zoom on 8 October 2024 – 11:30 UTC: Registration is open at https://lnkd.in/dYeHACNh Chair: Andreas Zimbal (PTB) Abstract: Devices designed to measure the dose equivalent in neutron fields are affected by some limitations, mainly arising from the large variability of neutron energy in workplaces. Neutron spectrometers can be used in the field to correct these shortcomings or in metrology installations to characterize the reference neutron fields. This communication briefly describes the types of neutron spectrometers that have been used in radiation protection according to their operating principles: time-of-flight, neutron capture reactions, recoil nuclei, or energy-integrated devices such as Bonner Spheres. Special emphasis will be given to the last type, as it is characterized by the largest energy interval of the response. As a recent development in this field, single-moderator neutron spectrometers are presented. Please feel free to forward this invitation to any of your colleagues with an interest in the field.
