VineVinu is a new and innovative wine project by Luís and Manuel Cerdeira, a father-and-son duo who are both winemakers in Portugal’s Vinho Verde DOC region, in the north of the country. The aim of this project is to explore the versatility of the Alvarinho grape in two distinct terroirs: in the mountains of Monção and Melgaço and by the sea, in Requião, where there is a strong maritime influence. This pair, from different generations, share a united vision: to preserve Minho region’s winemaking tradition whilst incorporating innovation and creativity. The logotype is informed by this vision: the ‘V’ brand mark is composed by a serif font representing tradition and heritage, whilst innovation is symbolised by a sans serif one. Both creating a foundation which is still under construction and aims to establish strong and deep roots, like a young vine at the beginning of its life. First vintage very soon… Client: VineVinu Creative strategy: Carolina Osorio Arboleda Design & Creative Direction: Miguel de Almeida Design Ltd Photography: Artur Mesquita, Beatriz Malheiro #alvarinhosemconstrução

Arturo Lomeli is transforming his super premium tequila brand into Mexico’s first luxury house—including hotels and boutiques—while maintaining the brand’s independence. Over the past three decades, Lomeli has perfected a playbook that relies on authenticity, from the distillation process to keeping the business Mexican-owned. He takes a longterm view and has invested vertically even where it might seem absurd. For example, one of the most recent additions to his sprawling bottling plant in the state of Jalisco—where a team of 50 artisans each glaze 100 signature ceramic decanters per day five-days a week—is a box-making facility pumping out custom packaging as fast at 18,000 sheets per hour. Clase Azul even manufactures the metal caps for its decanters, at a rate of 476 caps per hour. This strategy of going deep has created one of the hottest tequila brands ever sold. We are on day three of the NY auction sales (15th May 2024) and we have two sales at Phillips – The Modern & Contemporary Art Day sale, morning session at 10 am EDT and an afternoon session at 2pm. In the Evening Sotheby’s have their Modern Evening Auction at 7:00 PM EDT. Reviewing the Phillips sales first, there are 131 lots in the morning session. To follow the sales online do go to the House’s website. It is always hard to drill down on your favourite lots, so I usually start by choosing 10 or 15 lots and then homing in on my top 1-5. My favourite 15 works are as follows: 1. Frankenthaler, (133); 2. Mitchell (138) 3. MANOLO VALDÉS (167); 4. Albers (153); 5. Bonnard at lot 119; 6. Elaine de Kooning at lot 108; 7. Raoul Dufy (116) 8. Richter (162) 9. Judd (154) 10. Matisse (121) 11. Redon (120) 12. Leger (124), 13. Magritte (105), 14. Alexander Calder (228) Willi Baumeister (125). Cut down to just 5 lots and my choice is: – Frankenthaler, Elaine de Kooning, Albers, Redon and Magritte. My favourite lot can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/eku9Z_g5 133 HELEN FRANKENTHALER Spirits of Wine Estimate US$1,200,000 - 1,800,000 176.8 × 109.9 cm acrylic on canvas Everyone has their unique aesthetic and so it is always fascinating to find out which works a collector loves and why that is. It is generally never easy making a selection when there are lots of wonderful works on offer and you can get decision paralysis and so you need to ask yourself a few pertinent questions. To help concretise your choice– ask yourself do you love it?, is this an excellent example of the artist’s work?, is it commercially desirable?, does it have re-saleability (this is important as you may want to sell it in the future)?, is it well priced?
