Blake Buchanan hosted a great fireside chat with industry leaders Anja Pannek from the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) and Peter J White AM from the FBAA. Why do the overwhelming majority of home loan customers choose brokers? The number one reason, Anja said, is that brokers are customer-focused ... especially as banks continue to close branches. Peter put it simply: "Because brokers are delivering what consumers want." Both leaders said broker market share (currently 74%) will continue rising, with Peter saying it will inevitably pass 80%. That's great news. But Blake made an important related point, which is that as broker market share increases, so will media scrutiny. My personal view is that I welcome media attention, because brokers have a very positive story to tell. Noting Paper 348 - Use Case Enablement Experiment: Account Origination. In response to community feedback, the DSB commenced ‘experiments’ to explore speculative #CDR propositions, especially in the context of actions being considered in the CDR. A simple bank account origination use case was the first experiment subject used to test and explore the CDR’s capabilities. A report has been finalised that discusses the findings and insights generated through a government collaboration with industry, which explored how the CDR might enable mortgage refinancing.
