We, the Irish drinks industry, are an industry with people at its heart. We are a core part of the experience economy which spends almost €4 billion every year, on purchases of goods and services, including over €1 billion from domestic food and drink suppliers. We have created world class visitor experience attractions catering to international and domestic visitors and bringing business to all parts of the island. Visitor numbers to our more than 30 distillery and brewery visitor centres have reached 2.4 million per annum and will continue to grow. We support hundreds of festivals, cultural events and sporting occasions in communities throughout the country -vital elements of Ireland’s renowned cultural life. Review our Pride of Place policy document and how we support the drinks industry to continue to grow and thrive. https://lnkd.in/ekh5XaF8 Cormac Healy Patricia Callan Jennifer Wallace Eoin Ó Catháin Aengus King Olena Nazarenko Carleen Madigan Ibec Richard Collumb #DrinkResponsibly #ExperienceEconomy #MoreThanMeetsTheEye

"Hospitality is everything. When tourists come in, who is going to greet them? We are - the hospitality people. When someone has something to celebrate, who is going to help them do that? We are - the hospitality people." Gino D'Acampo hits the nail on the head on how important hospitality is to the UK 👏 That's why we're calling on government to rebalance and reduce costs. Last week, Ibec published a report on the Experience Economy - which encompasses hospitality, retail, travel, food, drink, tourism, entertainment, technology, events, and organisations in the arts, cultural, sporting, and heritage sectors - those sectors we *experience*, rather than use. This represents 9% of total employment in the State, supports 330,000 jobs either directly or indirectly, pays a wages and salaries bill of some €4.5 bn; and generates export earnings (from inbound tourism) of up to €7.0 bn. The Experience Economy is very important for Irish Whiskey Association members also. At the moment, 29 of our members have their distillery tour or visitor experiences listed on the website: https://lnkd.in/gBXCxQsU These visitor experiences represent a vital revenue stream for our businesses, and a unique pathway to promote their brands in the eyes of the consumer. Government support for continued expansion of these experiences is required. The full report can be viewed in the link in the comment below.

If you look around, Scotch Whisky Tourism is now a 'thing', all over Scotland. However, it's probably a bit early for back-slapping, as MOST of the Scottish Distilleries are CLOSED to Tourism. You CAN'T even visit Scotland's Biggest Distillery. Also, we're well out-performed by 'booze tourism' in nearby Ireland AND Kentucky, just ONE (pretty rural) State in the USA, with about the same population as Scotland. India and China are both impressively entering, an increasingly crowded Whisk(e)y market. It's getting very competitive. The whole, disjointed, pretty amateur, (potentially huge) Scotch Whisky Tourism weapon is actually shrouded by folk in Kilts, Dinner Jackets and Posh Frocks, at Awards like this. We pretend it's okay. They create the illusion that Scotland's doing really well here. We're definitely NOT. We clap this category, instead of properly funding it. Scotch Whisky Tourism isn't even out of the 'starting-blocks'. Edinburgh Castle gets a similar amount of Tourists (about 2.2 million), as all our 145+ Distilleries, put together. ALL of them, combined, all over Scotland. If you do the sums, this is not very good and a huge missed opportunity. We should have DOUBLE this amount. Ireland are promoting the entire 'Whiskey' CATEGORY and not just the separate Distilleries. They are THROWING Funding at it. When is SCOTLAND going to do this and properly joining things up? When are we having a Scotch Whisky Minister in Hollyrood? Scotch is 25% of ALL UK Food and Drink Exports. Hurry up! #ScotchWhiskyTruths #ScotchWhiskyTourism #ScotchWhiskyAssociation

This is a conversation we’ve been having for almost a decade. And while it’s beyond phenomenal (🤩) to see more leaders and progressive event organisers, hosts, and companies in rural Oz stepping up their game - the truth is, we still have much work to do 💪🏼 So - we will ask again for your help on this one, ‘Straya ❤️ Here’s the ask: if you’re an organiser of race days, field days, footy finals, or perhaps you’re in charge of catering for a bush wedding or a funeral, or on the committee for a massive field day - we’d love to ask you to keep in mind that whether your patrons or attendees or mates are 100% alcohol-free or they’re moderate drinkers who just want one or two alcoholic drinks and that’s enough …. Well …. there’s often nothing on offer beyond a lukewarm Urn in the corner, or cheap, sugary soft drinks (🥴). Rural Australia is literally asking for: Options. Choice. Inclusion. Thoughtful catering… Alcohol alternatives that are adult, tasty, sophisticated, and awesome. It’s not that hard to do. And there’s a healthy profit margin for event hosts - because people who would love healthy and thoughtful choices are so thrilled to see them, they’re happy to pay for it. You’ll find some options under “alcohol free drinks” on our website. Or simply go to the AF section in your supermarket. There’s a reason this is the fastest growing beverage option, globally. It’s basic supply and demand stuff 🤙🏽 If you’re a human who enjoys one or two drinks at an event, or you’re sober, and you’d love to see choice and change - please feel free to share and help us get this necessary step up in events & drinks catering to keep going, Australia wide 😘 To the absolute legends in our midst doing this and leading the charge : thank you !!! You’re seen, appreciated, and loved. #alcohol #alternatives #events #rural #australia #OK2SAYNO #af #alcoholfreelife #afdrinks #catering #choice #inclusion

Spain vs NorthAmerica Key hospitality differences you need to know! Explore the unique hospitality culture in Spain compared to North America. In Spain, children are welcome in restaurants at all hours, even where alcohol is served, and well-behaved dogs are treated as special guests, with waiters providing water bowls without being asked. Spanish waiters are known for their enthusiasm in recommending dishes, often sharing their favorites without prompting. Unlike North America, tips are not expected in Spain, and there is typically no option to leave a tip when paying by credit card. Additionally, you can relax and remain in your seat without being served the bill unless you specifically ask for it. Experience these delightful cultural differences as you explore the vibrant dining scene in Spain. #HospitalityInsights #CulturalDifferences #SpainVsNorthAmerica #TravelExperience #CustomerService #TippingCulture #DiningEtiquette #TravelTips
