AAA-The Auto Club Group is proud to once again partner with the Illinois Broadcasters Association to remind motorists of the importance of slowing down and moving over for emergency responders working on the roadside. This new PSA, featuring some of our Chicago Fleet drivers, will begin airing soon on IBA partner stations around the state. We are also excited to announce that drivers using Waze or Google Maps for navigation in ACG's footprint will receive an alert when approaching a AAA member and AAA technician on the roadside — an initiative proudly worked on by our very own Technology Innovation team. This enhancement is a critical step forward in roadside safety, leveraging technology to protect our members and service technicians.

This is such an important topic, but for a lot of drivers so misunderstood. Traversing a steep decent in a truck can be very daunting. One of the best lines in this article is something I see a lot of drivers “not” doing, and that is being in the right (or a low) gear, and at the posted speed before the actual decent. If it’s a 40km/h decent, be sure to be doing 40kp/h at the sign, not many many meters after when already on the steep decent, thus trying hard to get back to that posted speed limit generally using the service brakes. Don’t worry about holding anyone up behind you, you’re the single most important thing on that hill. Your family want you home for dinner, and if you don’t know what to do on a steep decent, ask for training and/or assistance before the trip. Even the most seasoned of drivers, will not know exactly what to do on a steep decent he/she has not driven before. The correct gear, engine brake or retarder setting etc, has to be learned on the first trip down as all trucks are different. Obey the signage, understand the signage, know your truck and its retardation capabilities and stay calm. If you don’t know these things, ask.
The #NHVR is urging heavy vehicle drivers to exercise extreme caution when travelling down steep descents, following a series of serious incidents occurring on Bulli Pass and Mount Ousley in New South Wales. NHVR Director of Central Region Brett Patterson said "Over the past few years, we have seen many trucks lose control down these steep descents, leading to serious damage to both vehicles and infrastructure, delays and serious road trauma.” Read more here 🔗 https://bit.ly/3E3jdgS

There are a few F1 technologies originally intended to improve speed and performance that were later banned due to safety concerns, unfair advantages, or because they did not sufficiently highlight the driver's skill. Despite these setbacks, some banned technologies have resurfaced and have been cleverly repurposed to bring more excitement to the sport. Learn more about the reason behind the ban and their subsequent resurgence in F1! https://ow.ly/LOZm50ScNLh
