🌷🗳️ Celebrating Diversity in Tradition and Civic Duty 🗳️🌷 This week presents a unique confluence of events that underscore the rich tapestry of our lives: Easter Sunday's reflections, April Fools' Day's laughter, and the pivotal act of voting on Tuesday. Each of these occasions, in its own right, invites us to engage differently with the world around us. Easter Sunday is a time for renewal and gratitude, a moment to connect deeply with our values and communities. It's an opportunity for professionals to reflect on growth, both personally and within our industries. April Fools' Day reminds us of the importance of humor and lightheartedness in maintaining balance, even in the most challenging business environments. A day of jests can offer a fresh perspective and foster creativity. Vote Tuesday emphasizes our civic responsibility and the significant impact our voices can have on the future of our communities and industries. It's a call to action for every professional to participate actively in shaping the policies and leadership that govern our professional landscapes. As we navigate these days, let's embrace the lessons they offer. Let's cultivate growth, welcome new perspectives, and engage responsibly in the processes that shape our collective future. #EasterReflections #AprilFoolsCreativity #VoteResponsibly #ProfessionalGrowth #CivicEngagement

I got the opportunity to contextualize our efforts in Boston as it relates to the Harm Report that was put together by Embrace Boston. It aims to provide guidelines for organizations and politicians when making future choices or legislation. It comes with an estimated $14.2 trillion worth of recommendations for federal reparative spending. The harm and associated costs touch on the areas of Culture & Symbols, Housing, Transportation, Education, Criminal Legal Systems, Health, and Income & Wealth & Entrepreneurship. "It's very difficult to scale brands without getting an opportunity to get on the shelf," explains Samad, "Traditional grocery stores will prioritize whiteness even though we don't see it. It just becomes habit. You have the sampler Black-owned business on the bottom shelf, and you have Kraft on the middle shelf. What we do is, you can get a hot sauce that's a big-name brand, but it's going to be on the lower shelf. When you look at who owns the land and the big brands, it is not Black folks, and it is because the historical context that needs to be examined, which is track where dollars have gone, and who had the first opportunity to own." Simply put, You have a food system that itself is racist, is weaponized, that forces unhealthy food on our communities and has since its inception benefitted white land owners, businesses and investors. I'm blessed to be in it deep with partners in Boston, NYC, and East Cleveland working on solutions that are tangible. #foodsystems #economy #reparations #Boston #solutions

Here’s how you leave a lasting legacy as a father for your children : 👉🏼 You get a tub of Mayo 👉🏼 You mix it with Vodka 👉🏼 You chug it and immediately pass out 👉🏼𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧👈🏼 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘴𝘰𝘯, 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘍𝘖𝘟, 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘺+ 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘶𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘤𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘋𝘶𝘧𝘧 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳. Television gives us a great portrayal of duds, not a lot of dads. A whole lot of ‘why bothers’, and not a lot of ‘that’s my fathers.’ If you really want to live a life of legacy for your kids, try this: 💥 Spend time with your kids, like every single day. 💥 Apoligize when you screw up with them, great dads aren’t impervious to mistakes. 💥 Portray and exemplify great health. Eat right. Work out. Care. 💥 Love their mother with intense ferocity. Tell them how much you love her. 💥 Ask your kids real questions about their lives, and genuinely be interested in their answers. 💥 Tell your kids you’re proud of them when you are, and strangle apathy to death. 💥 Keep your word. Mean what you say. Don’t lie to your children. 💥 Create expectations and make sure that discipline is a very real part of their life. I could drag this list on for hours, but here’s a general rule of thumb: 👉🏼 If Homer Simpson did it, you should probably go the other way with it. Just a few pointers. Legacy is forever. Make it matter. #ALLisWells
