Has Tourism Become Elitist? What happens when ecotourism is priced out of people’s hands? How does this impact the way in which we perceive wildlife? Our CEO, Dr. Krithi K. Karanth 's research in 10 of India's premier national parks has revealed significant findings, including the steep rise in tourism costs. Once affordable, visits to these parks have become increasingly expensive, making it harder for people to experience these natural sanctuaries. Before boarding on the boat, I got a hint about the type of ecotourism practiced in this part of Chilika. Apart from four of us there was our boatman, who insisted us to buy few packets of popcorn from the local shop. Idea was throwing popcorn on water to attract birds. Feeding any wild lives are not encouraged in any circumstances as that alter their natural feeding behaviour. For this very same reason, the human made bird hides used by photographers are also criticized by ecologists and conservationists. My article and photographs on ecotourism in Chilika is published in Whispering Wild, an online magazine on environment and conservation. Refer page 14, in Conservation section. Chilika is the single largest habitat of Irrawaddy dolphins in the world. hence, dolphin tourism. #ecotourism #sustainability #naturebasedsolution

Subject: Concerns Regarding the Impact of Park Entry Fee Increase and Travel Inefficiencies Between Maasai Mara and Serengeti Jambo Madam CS , I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding two critical issues currently affecting the tourism sector in our country. Firstly, the recent decision by the Narok County government to double the park entry fee is likely to have dire consequences for the tourism industry nationwide. This increase will disproportionately impact the micro-economy and the small community-owned camps and lodges, which play a vital role in sustaining local tourism. The potential for job losses is significant, which could have a devastating effect on the livelihoods of many Kenyans. It is disheartening to observe that such a decision was made without adequate consultation with all relevant stakeholders. I urge your office to engage with Narok County officials to reconsider this fee hike and ensure that future decisions are made with a more inclusive approach. Secondly, I would like to bring to your attention the challenges faced by tourists traveling between the Maasai Mara and the Serengeti. Currently, it is necessary for tourists to take at least three flights to move between these two renowned wildlife destinations, despite the fact that they share a common border. This situation is particularly ironic given that the wildebeest can migrate freely across this border, yet tourists are burdened by unnecessary travel obstacles. This inefficiency not only diminishes the experience for tourists but also represents a missed opportunity for cross-border tourism growth. I propose the establishment of a border crossing that would allow for easier movement between Kenya and Tanzania, similar to the seamless crossing at Victoria Falls between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Such an initiative could significantly enhance the attractiveness of our region as a prime tourist destination. I believe that addressing these issues promptly will contribute greatly to the sustainability and growth of our tourism sector. I look forward to your favorable consideration of these matters. Thank you so much and hope this concerned will be addressed. You can kindly reach out to me on +254729788207 or Info@sceatravels.com

Conservation tourism is not just ecotourism. Yes, it does mean that you have to be conscious about what you pack, use and dispose, but conservation tourism is so much more than that. It's preservation, education, sometimes relocation, protection etc. Not to mention the economic and social benefits of conservation, the jobs that are created or the funds that are collected to protect wildlife. Now the cool part is that we added an extra option to this all: participation! We organize tours where you are literally participating in for instance collaring, dehorning or notching and/or relocating of the wildlife. What a way of giving purpose to your travel to southern Africa! #southernAfrica #traveldifferent #rhinoconservation #talesfromafricatravel #proudtomakeadifference #wow #conservation #participation #sustainabletravel #bespokeadventures #realexperiences #CarbonNeutral #ecotourism

I'm currently researching Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and their impact on the travel and tourism industry. I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate your insights. Sadly, I've run out of options for assistance and turn to Linkedin. Our teacher gave us a day to finish this case study, you can provide your info if you can like age and occupation, names can be anonymous. I really ran out of option but to come here. Any help you could provide would be very helpful. Thank you! How can Global Distribution Systems (GDS) contribute to promoting ecotourism and supporting conservation efforts? What role do GDS play in facilitating bookings for eco-friendly accommodations and tours that support wildlife protection? What are some examples of how GDS have been used to promote ecotourism destinations and activities?

Elevation map Elevation was also considered essential, as it influences the climate and the type of activities that can be conducted in an area. Elevation data was acquired from the DEM provided by SRTM. This data was analyzed to determine the elevation ranges that are most conducive to ecotourism activities. The areas were then categorized based on their elevation to match the specific requirements of different ecotourism activities, such as high-altitude trekking or nature walks.
