🔬 Excited to Share Our Latest Publication! 🔬 As a BioEngineer, it was incredible to dive deep into enzyme engineering, optimizing our split trehalase enzyme for a more efficient biosensor platform. This paper is the latest in our lab’s ongoing work to harness trehalase activity, which generates glucose, as a biosensing tool for clinical applications. Special thanks to my former technician, YONGPENG FU, whose talent and dedication made this project a success! Our study focused on addressing two key challenges: optimizing the pH for trehalase function in blood and enhancing activity through hybrid enzyme engineering. By combining fragments from distantly related organisms (Cellvibrio spp. and E. coli), we created hybrids with improved stability and activity in near-physiological conditions—enabling practical, point-of-care applications. Check out the full paper for insights into how we’re pushing the boundaries of enzyme engineering for diagnostics! https://lnkd.in/gXH3VzpR BioEngineering #Diagnostics #EnzymeEngineering #Biosensors #Innovation

🔬 Scientific Monthly Seminar (SMS) with Dr. Patricia Lassaux We were delighted to host Dr. Patricia Lassaux from the Molecular Biomimetic and Protein Engineering Laboratory (MBPEL) at the GIGA - Université de Liège. Her insightful presentation, titled "Unveiling Nature's Secrets: Harnessing Molecular Biomimetics in the ADEKIT-II Project" provided valuable insights into the innovative applications of biomimicry. Dr. Lassaux's visit offered a wonderful opportunity to delve deeper into our shared research project (ADEKIT II) funded by the Greenwin competitivity pole, and explore the potential of biomimicry, particularly in the realm of portable diagnostics. The exchange of ideas was enriching, fostering a deeper understanding of the possibilities in molecular biomimetics. Thanks to our expertise, we can provide technical solutions in engineering and biomanufacturing to unlock the potential of specific peptides and bring new candidates into our partners' pipelines. 🌟 The discussions during Dr. Lassaux's visit have inspired us to continue our collaboration and exploration of new avenues in research. How do you envision contributing to our ongoing efforts in biomimetics and protein engineering? #CERGroupe #Biomimetics #Research #Collaboration #ADEKITII #ScienceCommunity #Protein #Recombinant #PhageDisplay

I am honored to have my research journey begin and culminate with the Nature series. I recently published my first-author paper in Nature Reviews Bioengineering, focusing on the lab-to-market strategy for molecular diagnostic platforms. You can find the most recent version here: rdcu.be/dNbj7 This review paper provides practical insights for experts on developing molecular diagnostics platforms using nanomaterials, from the initial development stages to commercialization. It comprehensively covers the physical and chemical properties of target-specific materials, FDA approvals, medical and environmental regulations, and ISO certification, offering real-world solutions for commercial viability. This may very well be my final scientific paper. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Institute for Basic Science and Harvard MGH professors for their support, and to the Nature publishing team for their tireless efforts and countless revisions to ensure a successful publication.
