The energy minister said the UAE will launch more large-scale solar projects by 2030 to meet the growing demand for clean energy. The country will initiate “one or two” solar farms a year until the decade's end. Last year, Abu Dhabi inaugurated the two-gigawatt Al Dhafra solar power plant, one of the world's largest solar projects. It supplies power to 200,000 homes and is expected to cut Abu Dhabi's carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2.4 million tonnes annually. #antalinternational, #executivesearch, #energyjobs, #energyrecruitment, #renewablejobs, #energytransition, #carbonreduction, #solar, #solarenergy, #solarpower

As we shift to renewable energy, one challenge remains: 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘴? 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 (𝐓𝐄𝐒) is helping answer that question, especially in large solar plants. By storing energy as heat, molten salt systems enable solar power to continue delivering electricity long after sunset, making renewable energy a round-the-clock resource. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤? In 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 (𝐂𝐒𝐏) systems, mirrors focus sunlight onto a central receiver, where it heats up molten salt. This molten salt retains heat for hours (or even days) and can convert that stored energy back into electricity on demand. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 1️⃣ 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐝 𝐀𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐦 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 – 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐕 (𝐃𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐢, 𝐔𝐀𝐄): One of the largest solar projects worldwide, this 700 MW CSP plant integrates molten salt storage to provide up to 15 hours of stored energy. This allows Dubai to deliver power throughout the night, supporting energy security and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. 2️⃣ 𝐆𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 (𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞, 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧): Gemasolar, operated by Torresol Energy, was the world’s first commercial CSP plant to use molten salt storage for continuous power. This 20 MW plant can generate electricity for up to 24 hours straight during peak sunny periods, showcasing the potential for CSP to deliver renewable energy continuously, even in high-demand situations. With molten salt storage, we’re moving closer to a sustainable future where renewable energy can power our lives 24/7. These projects prove that large-scale, reliable energy storage isn’t just an idea – it’s happening now! #RenewableEnergy #MoltenSalt #EnergyStorage #CSP #SustainableFuture #UAE #Spain #USA #SolarPower

UAE launches ‘world’s first around-the-clock' renewable energy facility The UAE on Tuesday launched what it called the “world’s first” facility that can provide #renewableenergy at scale around the clock. Abu Dhabi clean energy company Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) will combine 5 gigawatts of #solar capacity with 19 gigawatt hours of #batterystorage to produce 1 gigawatt of “uninterrupted #cleanpower”, Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and chairman of Masdar, said at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week - ADSW. The project is being carried out in partnership with the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC). “For decades, the biggest barrier facing renewable energy has been intermittency. It has been the moon shot challenge of our time. How can we power a world that never sleeps with energy sources that do? How can we transform renewable resources into reliable power?” Dr Al Jaber said. “This will, for the first time ever, transform renewable energy into baseload energy. It is a first step that could become a giant leap.” The move comes amid increasing pressure on the international community to boost efforts to meet the global goal of tripling renewable energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency by 2030.
