Over the past week, DUBAWA and other members of the Ghana Fact-Checking Coalition have worked to tackle misinformation during the elections. We monitored the media, fact-checked claims in real-time, and supported voter participation through a heavy media literacy campaign. During a press briefing earlier today, we shared findings from our efforts, including completed fact-checks and trends in election disinformation. We also exposed coordinated attempts to spread false information. The work doesn’t stop here. The Ghana Fact-Checking Coalition remains committed to fighting misinformation, promoting accurate information, and empowering citizens beyond the elections. #VerifyGHElection2024 #GhanaDecides2024 #GHFactcheckCoalition #StopDisinformationGH WANEP_Regional

Embracing inclusivity in the electoral process. Electoral Commission - Uganda is conducting an exercise that will allow every citizen to have a voice through voting. This proactive approach will enable PWD to be included on the National voter’s register giving them an equal opportunity to participate and perform their democratic rights. A critical raw data collection technique and mapping process that will allow PWDs in remote regions to get captured and registered in the national voters’ register. This is a vital phase in the management of electoral data and will allow all Ugandans to exercise democratic rights in the 2025/2026 General Elections. #Createawareness #Sharewidely. Do you have a household member who is a PWD?

The desire for power has often been a key driver of 'multiple voting' during elections in Papua New Guinea. This issue primarily stems from the lack of a robust voter identification system. Relying on voter details alone has proven insufficient for accurate identification. To address this, the inclusion of photos in the electoral Roll has been introduced to ensure that each voter casts their vote only once. Determining whether the objectives of this initiative have been achieved depends on effective monitoring and evaluation. With this in mind, I conducted on-site assessments at Araira and Tatana Wards in the Motu Koita area of NCD to evaluate the initiative's performance and progress. This effort aims to ensure that key achievements, challenges and lessons learnt are thoroughly documented and reported to the management for informed decision-making.
