The Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Alliance has published a working draft of a new specification that aims to enable the secure transfer of access keys between different providers. This revolutionizes how we log in to our online services, taking security and user experience to the next level! What are passkeys? This advancement in authentication technology is set to enhance security and user experience significantly by eliminating the need for passwords. Passkeys, based on public key cryptography, offer a seamless login process without the hassle of remembering complex passwords. Some of the advantages of PASSKEYS: Improved security: Less susceptible to phishing attacks and identity theft. Fast and secure login: the authentication process becomes much faster and more efficient. (FIDO reports that logins are 75% faster and 20% more successful than password-based authentication.) The increasing adoption of passkeys signals a shift towards a future with stronger digital security and simpler user experiences.
