Very excited to share our first case study highlighting GEW's LED products in use for roller coated furniture production. The wood coating market uses enormous quantities of Mercury lamps today but is primed for a switch to LED. GEW has burst into this market in the last 1-2 years, retrofitting more than 100 of our 1.4m LeoLED lamps so far in Europe. This case study from BJS furniture in the Czech Republic highlights the excellent opportunities of LED technology in the wood coating sector

BJS Czech s.r.o. was formed in 2005 and has become one of the largest furniture producers in the Czech Republic, specialising in the manufacture of high quality flat pack furniture finished with pigmented lacquers. The company has strengthened its position in this highly competitive marketplace with the introduction of a new, state-of-the-art wood coating line that combines soft-roller coating technology and GEW UV LED curing, to dramatic effect: productivity on this new line is double that of the older conventional lines at BJS, which rely on spray-coating and oven-drying processes. At the same time, the switch to UV LED has reduced the overall energy consumption of the production line by 30%.
