Does the U.S. construction industry have a skills shortage or just a labor shortage? 🤔 At Skillit, we're seeing the number of workers reporting they have the requisite skills for a job is up to twice what the government's BLS data suggests are available. Turns out a lot of workers have skills that belong to more than one trade (like say oxyfuel cutting which belongs to a millwright, welder and pipefitter), but because the industry hasn't historically been able to track a worker's individual skills, only their "trade" or "role" (e.g. pipefitter), those workers don't show up for those opportunities. So just like other industries are seeing, could one solution for the construction industry's labor crisis be a transition away from traditional recruiting (where recruiters rely on proxies like past employment, education or experience) towards a skills-based hiring approach that hires workers based primarily on ... skill? #constructionindustry #skillshiring #laborshortage

Why we still believe in Cylindrical Welded Tanks Welded tanks have seen a decline in the fire industry in South Africa but the tanks still have a lot to offer for future buildings solutions, with 100s of these tanks built in the market, the tanks are still an integral part of South African fire systems nationally and cannot be simply written off like the previous 9th, 10th and 11th edition rules. These tank system are constructed out of 8mm/6mm/5mm thick Mild steel S355JR plates due to their flexibility during rolling and erection of the tanks. The Tanks have truly withstood the test of time. The fusion of the tanks is done by welding the various steel plates in positions internally and externally for the perfect leak proof. The tanks can be easily extended when occupancy requirements change and have a 99.9 percent chance of rupture or failure. The myth: The tanks need to be drained every 3 years for maintenance The truth: The MM Project Managers Tanks do not need to be drained every three years for maintenance. The tanks maintenance schedule is based on design and application of various guaranteed products. The tanks offer durability, stability and longevity in harsh environments not forgetting the tanks can be built custom made to fit any tight area. The coating on the tanks is client specific but should meet the minimum standards prescribed. The tanks solve a variety of problems facing our country and not limited to employment issues. Our company offers training and employs tradesmen which include Boilermakers, Pipe Fitters, Fitters, Welders and believe in the industrialisation of our country. MM Project Managers still designs, fabricate and install these tanks to the highest quality whilst assisting with the maintenance of the forgotten warriors that carry a valuable resource for fire fighting. These tanks are ASIB, NFPA and FM approved.

Lately, I've noticed a recurring theme when speaking with candidates: as soon as we start the conversation, they immediately ask If the role is permanent or temp-to-perm. It seems there's a common assumption that because I'm a recruitment consultant, I only deal with temporary positions. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. I recruit for a wide range of roles, including full-time permanent positions. Recruitment consultants can and do place candidates in stable, long-term jobs☺️ I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this. Do you also think that recruitment consultants primarily handle temporary roles? That being said, see below these full-time permanent positions that I'm currently recruiting: 🔧 Air Source Heat Pump Engineer – Location: Perth | Salary: Circa £35k 🎨 Paint Sprayer/Prepper – Location: Warwick | Salary: £31,000 plus bonus 🔧 Panel Beater – Location: Coventry | Salary: Up to £22p/h 🎨 Paint Sprayer – Location: Blackpool | Salary: £17p/h 🔩 Mechanical Engineer & Electrical Engineer – Location: Dronfield | Salary: Up to £55,000 🛠️ Welder/Fabricators (Various roles in Worksop, Chesterfield, and Coventry) | Paying up to £17ph 🔩 Mechanical Fitter – Location: Warwick | Salary: £16.43ph + Monthly bonus #Recruiting
