We can't believe it was a whole week ago that we first opened our galleries doors to welcome audiences into Soft Impressions: Helen Cammock, Ingrid Pollard and Camara Taylor. Thanks to all those that came along to our Exhibition Preview and braved the weather! If you didn't make it, there are still plenty of opportunities to see the exhibition. DCA galleries are open 11:00-18:00 Wed-Sun (19:00 on Thu) and Soft Impressions runs until Sunday 23 March. Photography by Erika Stevenson.

From Museum Curator to Family Legacy Creator: Beyond Just Taking Pictures Drawing from my museum experience, I've learned that the most powerful collections tell stories through carefully curated pieces that work together. This same principle applies to your family's visual legacy. In my latest blog post, I share insights on: • How to start building your family's portrait collection • Making the most of seasonal photography opportunities • Documenting key milestones strategically • Creating visual harmony in your home displays Read more about how we can transform your family photos into a meaningful legacy: https://lnkd.in/e3Vq4Am6 #FamilyPhotography #PortraitPhotography #LegacyPlanning #Maryland #ProfessionalPhotographer

It happens often that you must cut your article for space reasons. Luckily, I can fix it here and quote this beautiful message from my interview with Nicole Dawson Cullinan: "We are interconnected with nature and are part of it. The first thing I felt was how sterile even the most biodiverse and wild spots are compared to South Africa. When nature outside suffers, so does our inner ecosystem or microbiome and health. We can adopt many practices to support our local ecosystem and improve its biodiversity, which environmentalists and other experts recommend. We must focus on our local ecosystem as much as possible because the remedies for our illnesses and maladies often lie around us, such as the plants and weeds in our immediate environment." 💚

Check out this upcoming seminar by Jennifer L. Stoots!
Stoots is a certified photography and art appraiser accredited by the Appraisers Association of America.
I'm honored that the Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP) has invited me back to present an update of "Alchemical: The rise of the fine art photography market and what we’re seeing today." In this beautifully illustrated presentation I will: Highlight influential people, galleries and institutions in the U.S. that championed photography in the early 20th century; cover key collectors and factors that fostered exponential growth from the 1970s to the end of the 1990s; analyze the top selling photographers and photographs; and finish with commentary centered around international photo fairs and the internet’s impact on the photography market in the last two decades. (A recording will be available, for a limited time, to those who pre-register.) The presentation will be via Zoom, is open to the public, and all proceeds benefit LACP. Date: Saturday November 23rd Time: 10am PT / 1pm ET (A recording will be available for one week after the live event to those who pre-register.) In this regard, only ideal photography and its exhibition will help you understand a deep message that you can not express in any other way. In fact, it is a great way for people to assess their photographic abilities and soon you will agree about it. But you might have curiosity about the world of photography exhibitions in 2024. #PhotographyExhibitions #Exhibitions2024

https://lnkd.in/djDAaQJk My project, "Ce lăsăm în urma noastră?", explores the hidden significance of abandoned buildings through photography and digital collage. It challenges viewers to reflect on the ephemerality of life and the legacy we leave behind, connecting past, present, and future.

What are photographs ‘doing’ in museums? Why are some photographs valued and others not? Why are some photographic practices visible and not others? What value systems and hierarchies do they reflect? Edited by Elizabeth Edwards and @ellaravilious, What Photographs Do is a co-publication from @uclpress and @vamuseum that explores how museums are defined through their photographic practices. It focuses not on formal collections of photographs as accessioned objects, but on what might be termed ‘non-collections’: the huge number of photographs that are integral to the workings of museums yet ‘invisible’, existing outside the structures of ‘the collection’. Whether you’re going to the @vamuseum to see #FragileBeauty: Photographs from the Sir #EltonJohn and #DavidFurnish Collection, or you are drawn to any other photography exhibition, this book will provide you with an extensive and unique range of accounts of what photographs ‘do’ in museums, expanding the critical discourse of both photography and museums. The Bruce Gilden exhibition at Fotografiska STHLM is truly powerful and highly recommended. The raw portraits of different walks of life taking place in the USA as well as other countries are profoundly moving. The large format prints brings you right into the scene. Such a photographer really shows that this is not just done with a camera and high tech equipment but with a personality like no other... to be able to be IN the scenes created. Hands down to such creators. 'Nothing but the truth' https://lnkd.in/dYsp6BE7
