Upcycling Coffee sacks into new materials 🌍☕ Together with @IWK Institut für Werkstofftechnik und Kunststoffverarbeitung and inspire AG, we’ve achieved something truly unique as part of an Innobooster-project of @Innosuisse: we developed fiber-reinforced components made entirely from 100% recycled coffee sacks – without any additional plastic additives. Like the cup holder on the picture. Coffee sacks are typically made from a composite of polyethylene (PE) and aluminum, which makes them notoriously difficult to recycle. However, through an innovative manufacturing process, we’ve found a way to give this material a second life while conserving valuable resources. With this project, we aim to demonstrate how new production methods can make a small but meaningful contribution to the circular economy.
