I've been meaning to take some thermal images of our brick house, after we got stranded by the builder who improperly renovated our home before selling it to us. Due to interstitial wall condensation issues, freeze/thaw, and spalling, we were negotiating an over-clad solution, with insulation and a rainscreen, but got left with only a white elastomeric coat. Drybulb yesterday was 95F. Our west facing white brick wall at 4:45pm was clocking 93-95F Our west facing red face brick wall at 4:45pm was clocking 106-115F Our neighbor's west facing unpainted common face brock was clocking 109F That is a 15-20% reduction in surface temperature. PSA: painting brick is generally considered bad, but a vapor open product or a lime wash can work. #architecture #buildingscience #climatechange #thermalimaging

This video captures the process behind the installation of our Elements Stain Series tongue and groove ceiling. On one side, ESS in the Cayman Brac color is fully installed. On the other side, you can see the installation in progress, where PVC strips are secured with tapcons into the concrete decking. For areas with electrical and plumbing, framing is covered with Advantech plywood before the tongue and groove is glued and nailed, ensuring a seamless blend across the ceiling. One of the most distinctive aspects of the Elements Stain Series is that no two boards are identical. Each piece is hand-finished, creating subtle variations within a unified color palette.
