🫧🫧Lessons I learned as a Walt Disney World Cast Member🫧🫧
🏰 I can do hard things. *cue flashback of Christmas Day at Magic Kingdom*
🏰 Cognitive Flexibility is different than Psychological Flexibility. I learned pivoting skills that I use to this day and I am able to adjust to new or even escalating situations on a dime. However, psychologically, it took a toll on me and it’s something I have to work on daily. *cue flashback of picking up a PAC shift* What is a PAC shift? Parade/Firework audience control. Enough said.
🏰 Joy & Kindness truly allows for beautiful connections. Half the time there was always a language barrier, but using empathy and kindness I was able to communicate and provide magical experiences to those that spoke a different language than I did.
🏰 Discipline and a sense of identity is learned the hard way sometimes. The Walt Disney Company is notorious for their incredibly long list of rules/regulations. This included a very strict “look” of what Cast Members were allowed to wear, show, and express. It taught me the importance of having an identity outside of my job.
🏰 The most important lesson I learned was something I’ve always been taught, but I got to live it out: Giving is better than receiving. I would give anything to make a family’s day or to see a little girl with a pink sparkly dress smile at the sight of a golden ticket pass. #magicalmoments are what I lived for.
There are so many more lessons that I hold dearly to my heart. These are just a few that stood out to me today during my time of reflection.

What Would Disney Do??? They would expect and prepare their Cast Members to go beyond their role.
Disney understands that there will be times their cast members must provide services or support that go beyond their job descriptions or specific roles.
That's why Disney clearly communicates their expectations on how cast members should handle these situations, and provides them with training and resources so they can confidently and capably handle these scenarios.

One of the toughest things to do is consistently meeting the expectations of others. No one is perfect, and we all have those days where we think we are 100 percent on it, but others see we are closer to 85. This makes it where we hope to have enough equity built in so that those expectations maintain that level of confidence.
I say this because I went to Walt Disney World and the service was not where it typically is. I do not feel this is a forum to mention my concerns, but rather to note that an unfortunate thing about being the best and consistently giving your all, is that really there is no place to go but down.
Regardless of if we are in customer service, sales, support, management, education, etc., we have to have put in the initial work equity to survive those times when we falter a bit. We are not perfect, but we can strive for it.

Just spent the last four days exploring Disney World - what an experience! It’s amazing how they charge for almost everything, and yet, people pay because the experience is so worth it. This got me thinking about how we can bring a similar level of experience to our customers in the trades industry.
It’s not just about completing the job; it’s about making the whole process enjoyable and memorable. From the first phone call to the final handshake, we have an opportunity to create a “Disney-level” experience for our clients. When we focus on providing value beyond the service, we build lasting relationships.
How can we elevate the experience in our field? It’s worth considering!
