For our client Royal De Heus we met in Jakarta where we were able to work on an amazing leadership project. Why? Because of the successful growth of the business worldwide and the industry’s increasing demands around sustainability is presenting De Heus with two challenges: 🧐 How to successfully bring its growing intercultural leadership along? 🧐 How to make sustainability an integral part of the way to do business? Together with a group of 20 executives from 12 different nationalities, each bringing their own assumptions and cultural perspectives, we worked on this project. De Heus and PT IAS, two organizations with shared interests but sometimes opposing views, collaborated to develop a business case with enormous potential for positive #impact on both people and animals. 👉 Our approach ✅ After a few online meetings, our journey begins in Jakarta. Away from daily routines, we focus on personal #leadership and sustainable fish farming in Indonesia's green interior. ✅ By expressing prejudices and sharing stories, we bridge cultural gaps. Leadership workshops, coaching, and field visits drive a joint venture in hormone-free fish farming, leading to better business and healthier food. ✅ Under time pressure, the puzzle pieces fall into place. On the last day of our 5-day journey, we present a solid vision and action plan to stakeholders. This group of leaders stands behind their shared vision and each other. The final outcome?🎯 A transformed team of strong leaders who know how to bring out the best in each other and navigate between cultural differences. Humility is often an overlooked trait. It's rarely the first that comes to mind when talking about great leaders. It can even be misinterpreted by some as a sign of weakness. I believe the best leaders are the humble leaders. And in my firsthand experience, when it comes to humility, no one comes close to Alfamart founder Pak Djoko Susanto. Allow me to share something memorable that happened many years back. In August 2017, my team and I flew to Jakarta for meetings with our Indonesian colleagues. Pak Djoko insisted on arranging the transportation from our hotel to the Alfamart office. We were told that it was his personal driver who would be fetching us. Imagine our surprise when we saw him driving his van! We found out that Pak Djoko had sent his driver to buy SIM cards for us to use while we were in town. To be driven by THE Pak Djoko Susanto, one of the most successful and richest men in Indonesia, was a humbling experience, to say the least. How many "big bosses" would even consider doing this for their subordinates? I've been taught that leaders are meant to serve, and not to be served. And this act of kindness and generosity by our dear Alfamart founder illustrates that point perfectly. An act that will forever be etched in our memories. Such an amazing role model, indeed. His simplicity and humility never fail to inspire. It is no wonder that he is so well-loved by his organization. #LeadershipMatters #HumilityMatters

Last month I participated in a poster design competition and won 2nd place by submitting this poster. In this poster, I talked about how to prepare GenZ to become the next leaders who will take Indonesia towards the Golden Indonesia 2045. The theme of this poster is about how to achieve competence as a generation that is useful for the nation by improving soft skills.

GROWING THE A-TEAM 💫 This weekend, we’re finally celebrating the grand opening of our 7th outlet at Plaza Indonesia (please make time to visit if you haven’t 😊 ). The preparation has been truly overwhelming, but the process has been humbling. "How did you manage to oversee the entire operation, and what was the most challenging part?" The key was having the right A-team on board—people who share my visions and can carry the Exquise spirit for the long run. For me, being a fit leader also means embracing diversity and inclusivity. Each generation has its strengths, and I’m blessed to have their support. A 5-star-level team, much like the bright future stars I met during my recent visit to Sumba, reminds me that whichever path we choose in life, it’s important to equip them with the best experiences and values to shape them into growth-driven leaders. Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the TEDxLanang Ave event— and it was nothing short of inspiring. ✨ Beyond the incredible takeaways from the speakers' talks (which I'll probably make a separate post about), two things stood out to me: 1️⃣ Every speaker had a clear advocacy.
