The round was led by HTGF with participation from UnternehmerTUM Funding for Innovators, NRW.BANK and renowned angel investors. Alteva Technologies GmbH develops ultra-lightweight batteries that are significantly superior to existing market options and enable the electrification of aircraft, trucks, buses and heavy-duty applications. The new capital will accelerate the journey of the start-up, which was founded in 2023 with the aim of creating cleaner and more sustainable energy storage solutions for the world. 𝐜𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐛 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 €𝟓𝟓 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐀 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐮𝐦-𝐈𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 Aachen-based company cylib has secured €55 million in Series A funding to expand its advanced lithium-ion battery recycling technology. The funding round was co-led by World Fund and Porsche Ventures and included Bosch Ventures, DTCF | DeepTech & Climate Fonds, NRW.Global Business. This marks the largest funding ever raised by a European battery recycling company and the first co-investment from Porsche and Bosch in Germany. Founded in 2022, cylib emerged from research at RWTH Aachen University and is led by CEO Lilian Schwich, CTO Paul Sabarny, and COO Dr Gideon Schwich. The company plans to use the funds to industrialize its proprietary recycling technology at a secured industrial facility in Germany, catering to leading OEMs and battery manufacturers. cylib technology enables the recycling of every component in a lithium-ion battery, achieving over 90% efficiency while reducing environmental impact by 30% compared to competitors. The company aims to address the rising demand for battery recycling, driven by the growth of electric vehicles, and ensure the resilience of European battery supply chains. The funding will also support further hiring and the scaling of cylib’s operations, positioning it as a leading battery recycler in Europe. The world’s first full-scale plant for PHA production from process water is officially in the engineering phase! 🌱 Paques Biomaterials and Eska have joined forces with EnviroChemie GmbH, Paques (part of the SKion Water GmbH), and Jorritsma Bouw BV to turn this innovative vision into reality. This milestone marks a big step forward in the Gecko project, with engineering set to complete in Q3 2025 and an investment decision expected by the end of the year.
