Maritime Observer Newsletter - September 2024 Monaco Yacht Show Preview ___________________________ "The superyacht industry saw its most profitable year in 2020, a period where boat shows were forced to cancel, reschedule, or go virtual. The unprecedented success of the brokerage sector in 2020 advanced a curious question about the role of boat shows post-pandemic, where do they fit in?" "Boat shows still play an instrumental part in the superyacht ecosystem. When establishing new yachting hubs, it is the globalization of these events that can elevate brands, cement the new name of shipyards, and bring forward prospective clients. In a way, the event possesses a potency where it may even help cement new destinations on the nautical map." ___________________________ Link - https://lnkd.in/eJx6Z7vi

🥁 MARKET UPDATE - Q1 2024 Interesting to see the number of yachts (Used or New) for the first quarter of 2024. This number, 306, is actually pretty much the same as previous years (342 in Q1 2023, 305 in Q1 2022). So the trend is that we are currently still in an efficient market. 279 motor yachts are listed for 27 sailing yachts for an average length of 34m and average asking price of 36,590€/GT. Those metrics alone do not give you the full picture as this is mixed between new and used yachts entering the market. However we can see a similar trend of yacht owners and shipyards listing their yachts from years back and I use this kind of analysis to help me gage the market. Thus helping yacht buyers and sellers make their best decision. 📞 If you'd like full report, market insight and comprehensive analysis for your yacht or want to become an owner... The Realities of Cruising: What to Expect Beyond the Hype Cruising can be an exhilarating experience, with ships continually upgrading their attractions and entertainment to offer passengers a memorable journey. However, the reality of cruising can sometimes fall short of the glamorous image portrayed in advertisements. Boarding a Ship: What We Think It’s Like The anticipation of boarding a luxurious cruise ship can be thrilling. Advertisements often show passengers immediately diving into fun activities and exploring opulent amenities. However, the actual boarding process can be quite different. Boarding the Ship: What It’s Really Like In reality, boarding a cruise ship involves lengthy waits, often over an hour, as you navigate through long lines and security checks. The process can be exhausting and dampen the initial excitement. Once on board, managing the high number of passengers becomes another challenge. Crowded Amenities and Limited Space With thousands of passengers on a single ship, finding a spot by the pool or on the deck can be a struggle. There are often more people than available chairs, and youngsters may occupy every inch of space. This overcrowding necessitates rules and regulations to ensure everyone enjoys their time withou... #CruiseShip

Some Yacht Captains Channel their ‘’God Mode’’ when out at sea. I was struck by this comment During a candid conversation with a seasoned captain. He articulated an attitude known as "God Mode" among certain yacht captains when navigating the open sea. This mindset arises from the authority and responsibility inherent in commanding a vessel. In the vast expanse of the ocean, where a yacht might be the sole presence on the horizon, captains can succumb to a sense of omnipotence, their position inflating their egos to a point where they feel untouchable. This concept intrigued me, particularly as I've recently launched a series of articles on my website with the title "Behind the Scenes," delving into the various roles and responsibilities aboard yachts. In one installment, "The Life of a Yacht Captain," we very briefly touched upon this notion of "God Mode." You can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eF3WsZS8 But I am curious to get your thoughts in the comments section. 1) Can this really happen to a captain? Or perhaps in your field of expertise, how does a leader who let their authority get to their head impact the team or project? 2) What strategies do you believe are effective for maintaining humility and respect for one's role when in a position of significant responsibility?

There's yacht listings... and then there's YACHT listings. Numbers tell a story, but only when they're authentic. Success isn’t about inflated claims—it’s about integrity, expertise, and truly understanding the industry’s needs. Instead, we focus on partnering with the most exclusive yachts and teams, building tools that enhance workflows and ensure every charter exceeds expectations. ⚓ Quality over quantity—always. Our reputation is built on delivering real results for our clients, not arbitrary metrics.
