I’ve joined an online pattern making workshop, organised by Hiroko Yano. I’ve wanted to join this workshop since my Masters course! This workshop demonstrated how to develop trousers block pattern to M47 military trousers and Nina Ricci tuck trousers. Moreover, this workshop covered: • How high heels change posture • The relationship between seat angle and crease line • How the position of the crease line affects the trouser silhouette • The difference in pattern making between casual trousers and formal trousers • How seat angle affect on back thigh • The relationship between tuck and grain line • How the back waist looks if there’s stretch there • What happens if the seat angle is changed without adjusting the crease line • How to translate the design aesthetic into pattern cutting … and more! Although the workshop was extended for an hour, many participants asked questions and no participants left until the end of the workshop, which inspired me. I look forward to applying the new insights that I gained at the workshop to my work.
