"The inspiration for Damsel came from many places. I loved working on Millie [Bobby Brown's] wig color, length, and design, and choosing makeup colors to complement her complexion. Damsel is a fantasy medieval film, so my inspirations for her ultimately came from a lot of medieval paintings." —Lynda Armstrong, MUA & Hair Designer, Damsel on Netflix. #EachisEvery https://lnkd.in/gm-cNnTx

Last week, we asked you which roles on a film set you find the most intriguing. 🎬 In this series, we’re excited to dive into some of your fantastic answers and explore the most fascinating departments and the associated roles behind the scenes. Thank you all for your participation and insights! 🙌 Stay tuned to learn more about how these key roles shape the flow of production! Let´s start with our first department: Hair, Make-Up & Costume💄💇♂️🪡 The Hair, Make-Up & Costume Department plays a crucial role in every film production. It often includes several sub-departments: hair, make-up, wigs, prosthetics, and even special effects. Through hairstyling, costumes and make-up, they help actors bring their characters to life—whether in historical films, fantasy worlds, or modern dramas. In pre-production, the department works closely with the director and production design to plan the film's style. Together, they ensure that the characters' overall look fits the story’s setting and tone. On set, they focus not only on the perfect look but also on maintaining continuity—making sure the style stays consistent in every scene. 💡 Fun fact: Hair & Make-Up pros often create special effects like scars, tattoos, or wounds that need to look super realistic! Stay tuned—in the next posts, we’ll dive deeper into each area of this fascinating department! 🎥 ❓To all Hair, Make-Up & Costume artists—which department do you prefer to belong to in the credits❓ #BehindTheScenes #MakeupMagic #OnSet #FilmProduction #SpecialEffects #HairAndMakeup #Continuity #MovieMagic #BTS #FilmCrew #FilmIndustry #ProfessionalCostume #Tailor #Wardrobe #dirAct #relionite #magiconset #setmagic #womenintech #professionalfilmmaking

Text from client: ‘Which eye shadow palette would you recommend?’ Often clients and I keep in touch. Over the course of planning and completing a photo shoot, we would have spent a fair bit of time together and chat about many subjects. Makeup can easily be one of them as I offer makeover as one of the service elements. Often natural makeup colours for eyes and cheeks are in orange (the right palette here) or pink (the left palette here) based tones. Which one suits us better depends on our skin undertone - it’s the opposite that tend to work well. Say I have an orange skin under tone and I often go for pink based colours. Do you have preferred makeup colours that work well for you? #makeover

As a filmmaker, capturing beauty and confidence is a big part of what I do, and this project was all about that. One thing I love about filmmaking is the power of lighting. For this shoot, I created the light to highlight the model's form and bring out the intricate details of the lingerie. Good lighting can really make a difference-it sets the mood, adds depth, and brings a unique texture to the scene. It helps tell the story we want to share. In this shot, the light isn't just there; it's an essential part of the whole vibe. The way it touches the model's skin and the fabric creates a sense of intimacy and elegance. These little details are what make the final image stand out.

How do you get your portraits done? That was the question I had during a portrait session last week. And, to be honest, it made it me wonder just how long ago it was that I did my last photos. Checking my last profile shot...my hair was still growing out from when it was super short. So a while ago, then. That's the thing when you change your look, you ought to be keeping up with your profile images too. The simple answer for me, is that I do selfies with my professional kit - but with a monitor attached to the camera so that I can check for focus (my pro camera has a flip out screen, but not one that I can see for selfies). I also have a collapsible backdrop for consistency. And I have a bit of a strategy that I've developed over time to get the best looks for me. I can teach you a strategy too, if you're not keen on having your photograph taken. Just drop me a message and I'll let you in on a few secrets. ;)

Comicbook Couture 3rd gen. Taking an image from my first run of comicbook couture, which I posted a week ago, and dropped it into MJ Describe. I ended up with several interesting prompt-only versions (no style prompting with artwork) of a similar style. Here's another one of the style generations. This one is very Pop and bold. #aiart #aiartwork #midjourney #midjourneyart #midjourneyai #generativeart #generativeai #fauxtography
