Being an HR professional, we often talk about ‘empathy,’ but there is no better example of ‘empathy’ than Sir Ratan Tata himself. Despite being a Global Industrialist and an Entrepreneur, he consistently demonstrated empathy in ways that are rare. From personally visiting a sick employee’s home to canceling an award ceremony at Buckingham Palace to care for his unwell pet, his actions spoke louder than his feelings. He built the Nano car after seeing a family getting drenched in the rain on a motorcycle, and during the tragic terrorist attack at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, his compassion toward both staff and guests was deeply moving. You influenced generations, as even the younger ones feel this loss today. His life was filled with acts of kindness and leadership always.
